In a way tv, radio and the internet though has probably saved lives, has also raised anxiety about health. We get a string of health messages, symptoms to look for via the media, especially on my car radio, and Dr Google is at our fingertips

Yes I know what you mean. The news icon on my phone has reams and reams of articles and a lot of them are designed to alarm and worry people. No wonder we’re all anxious. I sometimes skim past some of the more terrifying ones, although for that reason I don’t check it out too often.

There has been an increase since covid because during that time there were fewer people following up symptoms as they didn't want to go to the doctor's or hospital. There was a noticeable campaign of awareness raising after that.

Yes, what a strange and unique period of time that was. Different for everybody, but the same in many ways. I had to shop for my aunt who was in her late eighties at the time, and she had a flat in the city centre so I took the opportunity to wander the deserted streets after dropping her stuff at her door. Sometimes I made her back into the lounge so I could take it into the kitchen if it was a heavy week. All with the masks and sanitiser. Did mum and dads sometimes too, although they were slightly younger and were managing some bits from their nearby shop. The city streets were incredible, they’re not even that deserted on Christmas Day. I’ll never forget it, as U guess no one will, especially those who lost loved ones. I sometimes look up things on here and the posts are from 2020 and it takes you right to it, the feelings and emotions. So so unbelievably mad.

It was a very strange time. I'm surprised how little it's talked about really. Maybe partly because there's was and still is such differing opinion. I remember driving and the police had put large electronic signage up with warnings about breaking restrictions. It was very dystopian. And I also remember the lady behind our village pub bar trying to explain to an 80 year old why he couldn't have his usual pint of beer unless he bought food. He'd been going in there all his life. Regarding health warnings, I switch my car radio off now when it comes on.

Good idea, yes I usually switch tv or radio over. Can’t watch the news. I call it ‘murder death kill.’
