changes can be scary, even when we want them

Where there not signs of traffic lights? If I'm in an un-expected queue I put my hazard lights on to avoid being rear-ended.

Taz2 that's not as funny as it sounds. I stopped driving out of choice for a while as I felt I couldn't be trusted on the road with other drivers. I'm better now.

I knew when I wasn't safe to d rive. I took myself 'off' the road for 3 months and not 1 of our neighbours noticed that my car remained on the drive

When I was about 28, it ain't anything to do with meno.
Luckily it was on a Sunday, way before shopping was easy on a Sunday.

I agree that if we don't feel safe behind the wheel then we should stop driving but I'm not sure how people who live in rural areas would then get to work
I think that sleepiness at the wheel affects men too so it might not be down to the menopause but due to other things too - stress particularly can affect energy levels greatly. I'm glad you can now drive again babyjane.

(thanks goodness for GOOGLE )
"Hamlet:
"Madam, how like you this play?
"Queen:
"The lady doth protest too much, methinks. . "
Hamlet Act 3, scene 2, 222–230
I was on ABs which made me really really tired so I knew I wasn't safe to drive. I had by then stopped working away from home.

yes so am I Taz2 but only on familiar roads in places I know. I would not risk driving in a strange place on my own, maybe if someone was with me. I just don't seem to be as efficient as driving the car, watching the road as well as finding my way around nowadays. As for the sat nav I find the robotic voice so distracting especially when the cow moos after a long period of silence!

I HATED poetry, Shakepeare etc.
so any quotes are those from my Mum ……
If our GPS mooed it would be into the next field
…….. at least ours doesn't boss the driver, nor is she judgemental, she goes about directing us calmly and usually successfully. "Do a U Turn when possible" is disconcerting though when on the motorway
