Hi Menomale!

I know PamMadra who is in peri took it under the guidance of her consultant, and there are trials in Australia for using Tibolone in peri specifically as they feel it may show promise in helping to regulate mood during this time. There is an archive thread mentioning this on MM somewhere.......

So in answer - it's an 'off label' use at the moment, but it IS being used.

Pam hasn't been on in a while and I know she was struggling on it - you may do better! I know things regarding accessing treatment in Brazil can be very tricky, so I understand you wanting to assess all options.

I hope this is of some help! xxxxx

Thank you, Tempest! You are ALWAYS helpful!  8)

The article on the use of Tibolone for depresion is coming soon, there is just a "Letter to the Editor" available for reading but that sounds very promising! I'm afraid the article will be a pay per view one but when it comes I'll buy it.

Tricky... well... thank you for the kind word, the truth about medical treatment in Brazil is: you can always get what you want, if you can pay it. No wonder this is a paradise for rich people wanting aesthetic surgeries.

I have an open mind regarding HRT, knowing options and risks, balancing scientific knowledge and the lack of it in some dark areas.

You're most welcome, Menomale!  :) Yes, I think the paper will be published pretty soon, won't it? I just hope this might be an option for you!  Is Tibolone readily available to you in Brazil? xxxxx

Yep, everything is available here and apart from antibiotics and some anti-psychotic drugs you can buy them all without prescription (not legal, but happens).

And while im here, I might as well do a day 8 update. :)

Thank you so much to Annie, Warwick and Menomale without whom I wouldn't have managed to scrape through yesterday. :thankyou:

Today has been much better (but I'm expecting lots of ups and downs now. You really WEREN'T  kidding about a rollercoaster were you, Warwick? Bless your heart)! ;)

Not much in the way of jitters this morning. But ahoy jelly legs!!!! What the HELL is that all about?!? Right leg actually feels like its screwed on back to front!!! And has anyone had JELLY ARMS as well?!? Weird! Dizziness and floaty head too. BUT mood has been much better! :) I'll definitely take that..... ;) Wee burst of energy again this afternoon  - but brain in a muddle, hence slight incident where I flooded the bathroom floor (don't ask)!  :o

Sleep was ok last night - midnight to around 6.30 am which is good for me! Only slight warmth around 6.30 when I woke (this is what woke me up. Never had this kinda stuff before I started HRT. Grrrrr)!

How are my fellow ladies doing today, Annie and Warwick? Wee bit worried about you Annie, as you've been rather quiet. Are you ok, my love? ??? I haven't PM'd you as still having tablet issues - my rotten phone isn't great at accessing messaging on here!  xxxxx

Aw Tenpest ! Glad youve had a better day.  Sometimes the physical symptoms are easier if the mind is ok isn't it ?

I don't feel quite myself today, I'm starting to think this virus is still lingering, can't get warm and achy(not bad but enough to notice), ears pop then pop blocked again and hearing is slightly muffled again on and off, and the pressure builds then my throats glands feel sore.  So not sure if it's virus or not.  Been shopping and just feel on edge with how things are muffled.  Came home and asked what the high pitch sound was, OH said it's not high pitch it's the son in the shower.

Overall, Tibolone-wise still the same.  I dream of waking up one morning set to take on the world !

Tempest - hang in there you will find at this stage no 2 days are the same.

Annie - Keep going hun, things will settle with the virus and ear problem.

With me - yesterday was a better almost NORMAL day ;) slept a little better last night too. Took my tablet at 10:00 and around the same time I had a massive adrenalin surge, started from my calf travelled through my body to the pit of my stomach, a lightheaded feeling comes over me at the same time. Only happened once but seemed more intense. Rest of the day o.k but just started to feel flushed, headachy, and dizzy just now. Was meant to go out with friends but can't face it tonight.

Mood is better but as I said no 2 days are the same >:(

Look forward to your updates tomorrow  ;)

Very true, Annie! If my mind's ok, I can pretty much handle everything else.

Oh my goodness, though! Do you think it's time to pay your GP another visit? This sure is hanging around, and your body has been fighting this thing so hard without any antibiotic help. You are simply marvellous how you've persevered, but it's probably worth going to see them to get checked over. Only once you've properly healed from this can you truly start to turn a corner with the Tibolone, I think. Promise me you'll think about it? xxxxx

Warwick - you're an inspiration! DAMN those adrenaline surges though - and the damned ups and downs!! You never know what you're going to get from day to day and that really UNNERVES me. I'm so sad you couldn't get out with friends tonight - that would have been a huge breakthrough for you, wouldn't it? But - it WILL happen, I'm sure of it! You're doing so very well - and thank you for helping to keep us newbies to Tibolone going! xxxxx

Tempest Audiology called yesterday to say my hearing aids are there to collect, I said I'm not sure I need them as although not perfect my hearing has dramatically improved these past 7 days but she said she's the receptionist and it's up to them if I need them or not so I have to go Wednesday morning for a hearing test, I doubt I'll see the consultant but if things don't improve I'll see if I can see that sweet gp who's helped me through all this

I'm glad you're going Wednesday, Annie - I would definitely mention to them how things are as you never know, they may be able to get some input from the Consultant but I think it would be a great idea to see the GP again as you really have taken a battering with this virus - get checked over in general to make sure you're recovering as well as can be expected.

You really ARE a wee soul - and I'm sending you extra special hugs because this has been so very tough for you. You've also, through all of this, taken the time to help and reassure me and others who are not struggling with anything near as much, and that is so very kind of you. Just promise me you'll take good care of YOU, ok?? xxxxx

Aw Tempest honestly I don't think it's anything to worry about, it's just an up and down virusy feeling you know? Like every so often my body gives in to the fight then most of the time I feel fine.  I was at my daughters and the bloody ears were annoying me, I unblock them, swallow then they block again then the pressure builds which makes the glands sore, I came home feeling achy and just wanting to rest

But overall I'm fine :-) xx

I wonder.......But CHECK first.......If your Consultant will let you flush with Sterimar nasally? When I had very blocked ears from allergic rhinitis, it really helped to unblock the eustachian tubes in my ears so that they could 'pop'. It's very mild - just sterile sea water. My ENT consultant swore by it instead of nasal steroids - and he was RIGHT. It totally worked! :o xxxxx

That's interesting because as these tubes are draining/drying, which they must be because of popping and hearing coming back they're making my nose fizz, not in a nice way .  I wondered whether damage could be done ? Xx
