From where I'm sitting your GP is being very slow about diagnosis: vaginal atrophy certainly springs to mind ; it mimics repeated urine infection-type symptoms really really well.
The idea is to use VA treatment every night for 2-3 weeks, then as required. Some find that they are OK with every 3rd and 5/6th nights for example, others require it nightly. I use estriol internally via an applicator as well as smearing a little around the labia and vulva which helps counteract any dryness = irritation/itchyness.
There are products i.e. Yes and Sylc, moisturisers to use around the labia etc. as well as vagifem. It may take a while to get relief from symptoms so it's important not to miss. When mine niggle I add an 'extra' estriol mid afternoon, swallow 2 Nurofen and continue treatment for 3-5 nights.
Some ladies require replacement therapies along side appropriate VA treatment. As oestrogen levels drop the body may become dry inside and out: scalp, skin, deep in the ears, nostrils, vagina ....... and muscles may become lax = aches and pains.
There is also a condition known as 'honeymoon cystitis'

.
If a lady has her womb she requires progesterone with oestrogen replacement unless she opts for a longer cycle of oestrogen without as much progesterone in which case regular womb scans are recommended. I suggest giving the Mirena at least 3-4 months along side keeping up with VA treatment.
Would keeping a mood/food/syptom diary help at all?
Im going to start from the beginning so all the info is here as i really feel like i need some help.
I start on everol conti 50 2.5 yrs ago, no issues until about 18 months ago, started new relationship amd constant UTIs and BV, trying to tackle that and the GP increased to everol 75 in march, things were great and no issue, increase again too 100 from sept along with oral progesterone to top up the progesterone that i have in Depo inject, within a week of taking i had theeee most uncomfortable vagina, dry, sore, itchy, cut,
treated for BV and thrush nothing helped until i read online the adverse effects of progesterone....in mean time gp says cant stay on Depo amd not enough progesterone for the 100mg patch so need coil,
had that fitted within a week the sore vagina was back, i was applying KYjelly 100x a day or thats how it felt ...straight on phone to gp who prescribed 1x vagifem per day but it wasnt helping much so i upped it tp 2x a day and with 24hrs it felt better but still round the urethra was very itchy/stabby sensation...she then prescribed me estroil which has taken symptoms down by about 75% but have to apply probably every 2 hrs.
So i know this is a side effect of the progesterone in the mirena coil any ideas if it will settle?
Is it a case of body adjusting or should i just say i want the coil out asap
Any advice at all would be amazing??
