Hi lovely
I can’t believe your post:  I literally saw the menopause nurse on Thursday to talk about my relentless itching!  It is driving me INSANE!  She told me “unofficially” that I can wear a higher dose of Evorel patches to give me more oestrogen.  I have today for the first time put a 75 patch on one buttock and a 100 patch on the other  ;D .  I will only do this when the itching is unbearable, but I think it’s working already!  I wish you luck.  I think you just need more oestrogen.

Hi Dotties mum’z thanks for your reply can I ask what patches you are on and are you seeing a private menopause nurse? I’m actually considering going down that route now before I go completely mad.

I've had bite-like itches on various parts of feet and ankles and when scratching thought of your dilemma.  :-\

Did U C the GP?  He should be referring U to a dermatologist on an 'in case' basis.  Get plenty of hand lotion on the skin as dryness due to loss of oestrogen may well cause it to itch.  We use 'vaseline' in the yellow bottle or Nivea, I may have said already.

1 should't blame everything onto menopause so this needs investigating.

Hi yes I did and no Joy says only so much can be done in GP land unfortunately. I am 100 % sure it’s hormone related though. I’m moving in 2 weeks now so not many options, GP said I can’t even refer you to menopause clinic if your moving so I’m stuck going mad for now. Think I’ll go private when I move because it’ll faster, can’t take much more of this itchyness :(

U shouldn't have to pay for advice though it may/not be a quicker option.  However.  If U are certain that your move is fixed I can understand the reluctance of the GP, however, I can't C that there is any reason for them not to send a referral letter to your nearest menopause clinic.  U could of course ring the nearest hospital to your new location to C if there is a Clinic  as it may take a while for your medical notes to be transferred.

In the meantime: if U 'can't take any more' then use a good cream !!!!  what's to lose  :-\

I’ve tried so many creams and I’m using child’s farm oat derma at the moment and have been for a long time, that doesn’t help the itching either, literally tried everything. DAO supplements that break down histamine and stinging nettle drops another anti histamine, I’ve tried every one you can name, nothing stops it. Bloods all checked and ok l

The trick 4 me is to use several times a day B4 the skin dries enough to become itchy.  Even laying on the bed naked to allow the skin to breath ........

Hi yes I do that also but unfortunately nothing I’ve tried works that’s why I’m feeling so desperate to find something to make it stop

If U know where you are moving to, then mayB get registered now with a new GP ?  Also, perhaps give a thought to the type of material that lays against your skin, I've got base layers of thick comforting material which itches around the back of my neck which rather defeats the object of keeping warm  ::).

Is there any time of day that it is worse/better?  And keep on with using a good mositorisor even if you don't get instant results?

Hi CLKD I wear natural fibers as much as possible and all of my bedding and PJs is 100% cotton also. Has a phone call off my GP today and she’s agreed to increase my Evorel Conti patches from 50-75 so just got to wait and see what happens now. There are so many moisturisers that claim to be hypoallergenic, made for sensitive skin but they still have lots of chemicals in them or paraffin, lanolin etc. I have an app called Yuka and you can scan products with it before you buy and you’d be horrified with the rubbish and carcinogens that these top branded creams actually contain, but I’m trying lots of different ones to see how I get on, I’ve even used pure Aloe Vera gel too but still itched

It itches all the time mostly but a night it can get a lot worse too, like my skin seems to get hot even though I feel fine and it’ll itch more and sometimes I get the goosebumps on my hot skin and it then sometimes feels more tingly instead of itchy but itchy mostly

What dose of estrogen are you on? Maybe try increasing?  Low estrogen causes it for me, although nowhere near as bad as you're describing.

Hi, thank you for you lovely message. Last week the dr decided to give me an extra patch. I was on Evorel Conti on its own but I’ve now been given Evorel 25 also which only contains oestrogen unlike the Conti which is progesterone also. So far so good but I’m am taking DAO supplements which help to break down histamine and stinging nettle drops. But I’ll see how things go and then stop those and see how I am then. Fingers crossed because it was driving me to distraction. It’s been nice to get a break from it and a bit more sleep :)

U mention that mass produced products have many possible carcinogens in but U use 'alternatives' which haven't been tested  :-\ R U able to explain 'AOD' supplements ?

Why would stinging nettle drops help  :-\
