I just wanted to update you on what happened at my appointment yesterday. It was all good news! When I was rescanned the lining was 3.8 mm and the gynaecologist said that depending on which way the probe is angled the lining thickness can vary which obviously has an effect on the cut-off points if it's around 4mm. He didn’t think it necessary for me to have a hysteroscopy as he believes it’s the progesterone component of the HRT that is causing the bleeding. He said nothing looks suspicious on my scan so he’s gonna go on common sense. He also mentioned that too many women are being sent on cancer pathways for post menopausal bleeding on HRT when the chance of cancer on HRT is so low. He did a smear test as I have a lot of cervical pain. Getting results next week. I’m going to have a follow-up scan in five months to check lining and see how I’m doing on a different regime of progesterone taking Utrogestan orally.
He said if I am still bleeding taking it that way he will discuss the Mirena or a combi oestrogen/progestogan patch. The atrophy he thinks is made worse using the Progesterone vaginally and he will treat that when I've switched to oral Utro.
Thank you so much CLKD and Dotty for all your advice!
