I got a call from my dad's neighbour yesterday afternoon and he told me dad had another fall (I was still at work). Dad was picking up his mail at the community mail box and he tripped on part of the sidewalk and fell. He had his keys in his hand and one of them lacerated the fleshy part of his hand below the pinkie. Thankfully he didn't sustain any broken bones. The neighbour found him lying on the side of the road not long after and brought him back home. I was able to leave work and go pick him up, dd came as well. We drove him to the ER, arrived around 4:45, it took 45 minutes to get him triaged, and registered, then a loooongg wait in a hallway. He got a tetanus shot because he wasn't sure when he had his last one. He didn't see the doctor until close to 11:30, went for xrays, and then got the stitches put in at midnight. By the time I dropped him off and dd and I got home it was past 1 am this morning. I was overtired so I didn't fall asleep right away so I running on fumes this morning. I have to go over and change his dressing this afternoon and do some housework. He has full use of his hand but can't get the dressing wet. I joked with him while we were waiting that we might be still there to watch the Coronation.
