Nausea
« on: August 30, 2020, 02:46:35 PM »

Ok,wasn't going to start a new thread as yesterday I felt fine but today the nausea is back,I've had it for almost 2 weeks,I'm 57now so I thought I'd be through most of meno symptoms, had a hysterectomy about 15 years ago but ovaries left. Can anyone tell me if they have suffered this,so far down the meno line? I can be ok one day then awful the next,I've read progesterone can still be causing issues,I've a blood test on Tuesday but I'm getting worried about it all tbh.Oh and I'm not on hrt.Thank you x

Nausea was one of my worst menopause symptoms 😕. It was horrendous and relentless. X

I had nausea in peri for about 18 months and then it went away. I limped on for a few years not feeling right but no one could tell me what was wrong with me. Then at age of 53 the nausea came back with a vengeance and my other symptoms got worse. It was then that I realised that my problems were due to menopause. Finding the right dose of HRT stopped the nausea. X

Hello Jaypoo
I came on here this evening looking for nausea and there was your new post! It has hit me in waves, along with a kind of 'ill all over' sudden exhaustion feeling, since last weekend. Half an hour or an hour later I can feel fine again but when it hits it's awful and I just want to cry - or go to sleep, as I feel so wretched. I finished a period last weekend, so am wondering if that's what kicked it off - oestrogen dropped low after surging high for the period - I had 15 months without a period, then two mini ones and then the heavier one before last weekend. Had all investigations, nothing wrong with my women's bits. I was wondering if I needed blood tests too. The horrid thing about the menopause is so many debilitating symptoms and not knowing if it's the menopause or something more serious but not wanting to have endless investigations, procedures and tests, but also not wanting to ignore something that you shouldn't be! Does your nausea come in waves?

I'm post meno pumpkin, well at 57 I should be but because of hysterectomy, I can't be sure when a final period would have been but been having the sweats for 6 years on and off, with me,one day I can be fine,ALL DAY then the next,I just don't feel right then the nausea starts OR I can be fine in the morning and it starts in the afternoon,it's been relentless for two weeks now, with you,I'd guess at hormone spikes but surely I can't have that much oestrogen and progesterone to cause me issues  :'(
I'm getting a blood test tomorrow,you're right,we shouldn't just say it's meno,it SHOULD be checked out by a dr.
Do you take anything that helps for it? Peppermint tea or the likes?

I had every test under the sun for my nausea because my GP wouldn’t believe it was due to menopause . I had an endoscopy , 24hr urine test, cancer tests....all were clear. Once on HRT the nausea went. x

Hello jaypo

I'm so sorry that you are suffering. I had nausea at about the same time as my last period at age 54. It felt like morning sickness and  lasted most of the day. Quite why I was sure it was morning sickness and therefore hormonal I don't know as I had never suffered from it during either of my pregnancies. Thankfully it just faded away and has not returned during the last ten years. I didn't take anything for it at the time but I'm guessing any anti nausea treatment is worth a try.

Take care and sending  hugs.

We have fresh ginger - maybe make some tea with it, or chew a small piece?  :-X

You could try Nairns stem ginger oat biscuits. They don't contain any wheat. They are low calorie and taste quite nice.
