Himalayan salt is mined from the Salt Range mountains - an outer range of the Himalayan Mountains in Punjab, Pakistan.[1]

Although its salt is sometimes marketed as "Jurassic Sea Salt", this salt deposit comes from a seabed of the Permian and Cretaceous eras 100 to 200 million years ago.[2]
The first records of mining are from the Janjua people in the 1200s.[3]

Himalayan salt is mostly mined at the Khewra Salt Mine in Khewra, Jhelum District, Punjab, which is situated in the foothills of the Salt Range hill system in the Punjab province of the Pakistan Indo-Gangetic Plain.[1][4]

Mineral composition[edit]

Himalayan salt crystals

Himalayan salt is chemically similar to table salt. Some salts mined in the Himalayas are not suitable for use as food or industrial use without purification due to impurities.[1]

Some salt crystals from this region have an off-white to transparent color, while impurities in some veins of salt give it a pink, reddish, or beet-red color.[5][6]

According to one estimate, Himalayan salt is 98% sodium chloride, with 2% of it being minerals such as magnesium, potassium and calcium. This level of impurities is similar to that seen in common table salt,[7] and is considered to be too small to provide Himalayan salt with any special health benefits.[8]

That's it, Maldon  :thankyou:  My DH has family in that region but I've never been.   A relative lives on Anglesey.   Every day is a learning curve  ;).  One cannot have fish and chips without salt and vinegar  ;)  ;D

So pleased that I was able to find out about our Council bin earlier as it was beginning to fill my head space.  Emptied now.

oh goodness! I've missed all the fun it seems!  ;D

As they say "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder" and isn't it the truth.

I notice as I age my idea of handsome has changed as well....call it maturity..I don't know.

I remember a time when I didn't really find beards all that attractive but then, as a joke/dare, I got hubby to grow one...thought it would look as bad as when he tried a mustache
And wow, he LOOKED GOOD. Dark hair, piercing blue eyes....and he still makes me laugh...not always on purpose!  ;D And he keeps my crazy in check.  ;)
I'll be sad when that beard goes....

As far as Johnny Depp goes....take it or leave it for me really.

yes BlueButterly,, Jaypo has been spluttering her tea about the place courtesy of moi!  :) oh no...this current beard fashion, really not for me.  I think it makes the majority of younger men look much older than they are.  Why would they want to do that?  ...some older men it definitely suits and makes them look "distinguished" but by and large I'd say there are more men it doesn't suit, than it does.  The only man I can think of where just about anything goes is David Beckham!.. although I think he has gone too overboard on the tattoos.  A few sprinkled about can be nice but filling every available space nah not a good look.
My nephew is an extremely talented artist exceptionally good a portraits of anyone including famous people and he is now in business as a tattoo artist. He is so good with his pictures he can transfer the portraits onto skin - which is no mean feat!  I love some of his stuff but just one or two at a time - some of his clients are nearly covered head to toe!

:-\.  If DH even considered going more than 2 days with shaving  :beat:

Crikey that's a meander  :-X

ah well...if we were talking facial hair I reckon we would get to tattoos eventually??  Thought it was better than a conversation about husbands and tongues…(cue another Jaypo splutter  ;D :-X) - I mean how witty they are with them ;)

Matt Baker is great presenter but no I'm with you on facial hair CLKD  and yes meandering...one of my many symptoms!
