Mirena Coil and Estradot update, any surge
« on: May 30, 2018, 10:37:41 AM »

Hi again,

Well, after 6 months of Evorel50 Sequi and having terrible sore, boobs that felt like melons, I have now had the Mirena installed  ;D sounds like a new cooker !!

The insertion was great, didn't feel anything although I do have a fab GP who is pro HRT that was on 11 May, felt fine after, then last week had a small amount of spotting nothing else. But this week my hot, sweaty flushes have returned with occasional dizziness and just not feeling as I did before.

At the same time I switched to estradot 50 patches as the Evorel had come unstuck a lot especially after spin classes.

I'm wondering whether I need a stronger patch or whether this is my Mirena or whether to try adding half an evorel50.

Any suggestions would be gratefully received. Thanks

I am no expert but I would think it was because you changed things. I always get side effects when I change anything. I have no experience about the Mirena as have never had one but I would definitely think changing from one regime to another would give you side effects before your body gets used to the new regime & settles down again

I was told six month settling in time for Mirena, when I didn't get it.  Wish I had given it a go.

Yes I agree I would give it another couple of weeks and if no change then yes you need a higher dose of oestrogen - there is quite a big hit of progestogen in the initial weeks and months of Mirena (according to the info - I've never had one, although was offered one when i had a hysteroscopy!) and it gradually very slowly decreases over the months and years it is in place.

Helen melon I had to go straight up to 4 pumps of oestrogel when I started the Mirena. Like hurdity said the initial hit takes a while to settle down. I'm now thinking I need more oestrogen as tiredness and few sweats returned. Was thinking of estradot too with top up of gel if I'm allowed. I'm 5 months in with Mirena. Does take a while to settle so I'd persevere as it's the best combo I've been on I reckon. X

I just had a mirena inserted 3 days ago (also had polyps removed--all done in day surgery).     Don't want to hijack your thread, but wondering how it should be feeling post insertion as worried a bit the coil not in the right place-- I have that feeling you have when a tampon is not quite inserted correctly.   They took me off the HRT but have not provided replacement estrogen -- just said to contact  my GP.   All feels a bit rubbish...

Thanks Optimist, I popped a half an Evorel 50 on just to see and I am feeling a lot better. Will see my gp in a week or so so hope to get sorted then.

Kris.s I've had two Mirena coils the first one about 8 years ago for heavy periods and I also had fibroids which I later had UFE for.
When the GP and meno specialist suggested another one I really didn't want it because the first one put me off. I felt as if it wasn't in properly an every time I walked I could feel it even though my current GP (who is great) said you should feel nothing. I had the first one taken out after a few weeks, I just wasn't comfortable.

This time it was completely different I never felt it go in, I did with the first. This time I was surprised when she said “that's it, all done”
Afterwards I felt fine, no cramps, just a
Very mild ache for a day that was it. I've occasionally had a bit of period like pain, but nothing else.
If I were you I'd give it a few days and if you're still uncomfortable go back and ask for it to be checked, apparently in rare cases they can move slightly but I think it's more likely with a very heavy period, although if that's not right I'm sure someone on here will give us better info.

Hope it settles down for you xx
