It certainly does help, Warwick - thank you so much for sharing! What makes me so sad when I got to my appointments at the outpatient department at our psychiatric hospital is that I pass the mother and baby unit for women who are suffering from severe postnatal depression and psychosis. If only they UNDERSTOOD that this is caused by hormones, these women could receive more sympathetic and swifter treatment. It makes me weep that I know there are young Mums in there with their little ones, thinking that they've gone completely crazy. When they recover, I'm sure the whole experience of this will scar them for life. :'( :'(

Thank you so much, Annie! Yes, I've spent quite a lot of time explaining things to him. He is a nice guy, as I say but he freely admits that gynaecology and psychiatry really should talk to each other more! :o

Professor Studd I know has sought to liaise with professional bodies in psychiatry but has had the door pretty much firmly slammed in his face. There is nothing like institutional snobbery!  >:(

I feel confident it will all happen one day that hormone balance will be tried first before any meds

good luck tomorrow Tempest xx

I'd like to think that it WILL happen too Annie, but in the present state of the NHS as a failing, cash strapped institution the solution is always going to be one of whatever is CHEAPEST. And that pretty much means AD's, anti psychotics and tranquillisers. Requires less GP visits to monitor and implement, and requires very little follow up. Very sad, but very true. The NICE guidelines for HRT for instance are brilliant, great......But not being taken on board by GP's as extensively as they should.

Sorry - I could bang on about this forever and we all know the arguments don't we? I don't want to bore the pants off folk and I'm getting off topic.  ::)

Just to say a BIG THANK YOU for all your amazing help and support - and thank you too for the good luck wishes! xxxxx

Warwick tempest Annie all you gorgeous women out there🙋😘💗

Just been reading few past days or so posts

Listen I was a wreck a total wreck ...

Dizzy headaches foggy head
Nauseous
Pains in legs hips shins feet
No energy
Felt spaced out
Hot cold
Dizzy
Agrophobic
Tearful
Depressed
Agitated
Sick
Blurred vision
Couldn't string s sentence together
Dora the fish had nothing on me 😉

Honestly I was so so dorm I'd never been as bad in my life ! Weeks 1-4 horrendous new side effects daily
Then I'd have a good day I'd be like whoop whoop take on the 🌎🌎 then I'd literally crash

Weeks 4-8 marginally better not much but kept going with all your support !

Then week 8-10 ummmmm feeling like a real person again but periodic problems as noted above came from no where no triggers no pattern just RANDOM 😳

Weeks 11-12 yep !! I'm alive again !!! But still the odd random problem creeps up on me 🙄

Week 13 now and I feel great to what I was I thought my life was over I couldn't cope and I'm not like that but o wasn't in control of my body my brain my emotions nothing ! I had been taken over by hormones 😉
I still get random stuff agitated but if a short fuse and jelly brain ... but I'll live with that I laugh st myself
So the morale of this story is if I did it ... YOU CAN DO IT !

Please please stick with it for at least 12 weeks then see how you are 💗

It's horrendous but you can do it x

Much love to all of you 😘😘😘

Excuse the typos in bed fling this off iPhone with no lenses 😘😂 but had to post to offer hugs support to all you lovely ladies

Keep going you'll soon be typing in this thread supporting others just like people Did to me .. and we go on supporting each other xxxxxx

Suzanne YOU DARLING !

Thankyou so much !
I feel I'm getting a smoother ride here settling in but still times where I pinch myself that I've taken this plunge.  I'm back to work Monday and a bit nervous about that, been off sick since Xmas and worried my brain won't engage like it was but hey ho my wellbeing is more important

Tempest is needing these updates so much as she is experiencing the common side effects bless her

I'm so glad you've come out the other end victorious Suzanne, it really gives us ladies that have despaired on other regimes a good shot and hope of getting where you're at

Bless you xxxx

Suzanne

Thanks for the update. I can't tell you how much it helps, especially telling me you suffered dizziness too ::)

I wish I could just sleep for the next few weeks. Luckily I'm not working (gave up my job due to this meno) so planning on just staying home and riding the storm.

So happy you got through it Suzanne. Keep popping in WE NEED YOU ;)

Suzanne, oh my goodness! I'm in tears!!!! Thank you, thank you!!!! You don't know how much this means to me and the other ladies - you're an inspiration! Please keep popping by, won't you? Most of all, I'm so glad that you're feeling so much better yourself!  :) :) :)

Last night I visited Kristen Neff's website (recommended in a thread by Coldethyl - thank you, dear lady). I've bookmarked the mindfulness exercises, and took the wee quiz about self compassion. Ladies - TRY IT. Oh boy, my score was ATROCIOUS!! Apparently, I have no compassion for myself at all so I've decided to work on this. Also ordered a copy of 'Breathe' magazine which caught my eye - it looks like a nice publication focusing on mindfulness and relaxation. :)

Today I plan to take it easy and watch the Presidential inauguration. Should be something of a spectacle, if nothing else..... :o

Sending you all biggest hugs (especially you Annie, as you prepare to return to work. We're here for you, dear heart)! xxxxx

Thank you Tempest ! Certainly have the jitters for work Monday for a few reasons , but

Want to wish YOU good luck today with your phone call.  I know you'll explain it all perfectly (good job I'm not your spokesperson, I'd never get to the point lol)

I was tempted to try Tibolone but I still don't understand why it is not suited for perimenopause, can someone explain that? I also read that it's not suitable for women with vascular issues like me, but isn't oestradiol the same?

As it doesn't suppress the cycle and you still have one then you would experience random breakthrough bleeding due to your own hormones. Also this could possibly lead to problems with endometrial thickening - which is why in peri-menopause cyclical HRT is the preferred choice - at least the bleeding is regular and the lining is usually always shed.

Todays update day 29 (started second pack)

I didn't sleep well last night (can cope with that)

Today has been the best day yet:

More energy
No adrenalin surges
very little dizziness
no headaches
no nausea
no brain fog

In fact it's been a really good day ;) have I turned a corner??? who knows but I havn't felt this normal in such a long time....... I'm actually shedding a tear :'( finally I may have found the answer in Tibolone.

Although - I will had yesterday was pretty grim >:(

Thank you all for your support, it means so much.

Tempest - hope your doing ok today?

That's wonderful news warwick! (I desperately need them today). It seems that you´re in the right way, fingers crossed that good days will outnumber the grim ones. When I understand why perimenopausal women cannot take Tibolone, I will consider giving it a try.

Hooray, Warwick!!!! :) :) :)

I need this today!!! Today = grim! Bad anxiety, jitters and psychiatrist didn't phone me as planned. Loads of ruminating thoughts about how I regret this surgery (this is a constant with me, though)!  :'(

Keep going, you're doing fabulously and you give me hope! Hugs!!!! xxxxx
