You poor soul, you sound absolutely stressed out and terrified, worry can be so all consuming, it can make us feel ill, but I know its no use telling you not to worry as I would be the same in your situation    Hoping the news tomorrow isn't as bad as you fear and you can have the polyp removed quickly.  They never leave anything like polyps for long anyway, so perhaps you are being seen quickly in order to be put on the emergency list. This is quite common practice and happened a lot where I used to work.  We always kept a slot at the end of each day's list for emergency but routine surgery such as yours.   I have never had an MRI scan but even the thought of it gives me a racing heart, so I can empathise with you.  I heard they are very noisy despite being able to listen to music !

My mum had a very bad bout of abdominal pain a couple of years ago and a colonoscopy failed because, like you, there was a lot of pain for her and they suggested there was a blockage. I've only just remembered this. No treatment and she's all fine 2 years on. I believe she has diverticula and perhaps they were the source of the blockage but don't know this for sure.
It also might be that you're in at 9 tomorrow as that was simply the first available appointment - that the consultant has slots kept open for every day. As Evelyn says, they'd obviously like to lose the polyp asap.
Fingers crossed.

I expect that was when the appointment was available.  They do have quite tight deadlines to stick to for these sort of investigations so seem to make a big effort to fit people in.

Keeping everything crossed for you  :)

Hi Lynne888

Thanks for updating us and sorry to hear about the problems you have had with the investigations. Of course you will be worried - it's only natural, and hopefully you will be reassured tomorrow that everything is OK except for the polyp which must be removed. Try to do something relaxing tonight as worrying too much will not effect the outcome - but I know that's easier said than done.

Take care and wishing you all the best tomorrow.

Thank you all for your very kind words and reassurances.  I think the reason I feel so worried is that when I have had appointments made by phone over the past number of weeks, it has been for several days in advance, the quickest one 4 days, so to get the call at lunchtime asking me to go in a 9 in the morning made me panic like mad.  I have a feeling that everyone is given a 9 AM appointment and in the afternoon everyone is given a 1.30 appointment (that's what I had before and about 8 of us all had a 1.30 appointment!) It doesn't sound like I will have a long time slot to hear much so maybe there will be some sort of follow up. I feel they may have shoehorned me in!

That sounds about right!  Better take something nice to read just in case, plus water and emergency biscuit  ;D

And something to write details down on if they are rushing you through.

What an awful time you've had Lynne and now all this extra worry must be torture for you. I'm sending  you my good wishes that in the morning you'll feel a lot better once you've seen the consultant. Good luck hun.

Years ago everyone arrived for a 10.00 a.m. appt.  >:( instead of bringing in the 'walking' patients first and those being collected by Ambulance mid-morning  ::).  Same in the afternoon Clinics.

Thank you all for your genuinely lovely messages of support. They have been a real help... I've had no sleep and I've had myself dead and buried several times over as that's the way I am!!! However, so far, nothing other than an abnormal polyp has been found :) I have to go for another CT scan with a clear bowel this time just to check for more polyps. Consultant seemed to think there wouldn't be one on it's own. He said that if there was a large cancer, it would have been found on the CT scan I have already had.  If there is anything small that couldn't be seen it will be operable. The news is much much brighter today :) MY only concern is the constant left side pain (24/7) and I'm hoping that's the polyp.  CLKD, you were right. I think the consultant is only at the hospital a few days a week and they wanted to give me the results of the tests and scans I had already had. You have been so helpful , thank you!

Phew...and breathe! Thank you for updating us Lynne, I was thinking about you earlier this morning. It does indeed sound like it's the polyp(s) so hopefully you can now relax a little. I think a  nice cup of tea and feet up is what's needed this afternoon .
It does cause such unnecessary worry for us when we dont fully understand how these appointment systems work doesn't it? We always fear the worst when we get an early slot but your experience today has shown us otherwise.

Yay!
That's really great news.
I had constant left hand side pain for a bit (and it still comes back sometimes) - had a scan and nothing was found. I think the suggestion was that something was sticking to something else and that could be painful. These days it comes and goes a bit.
I also had myself dead and buried for something entirely separate and had a 2-week-rule hospital appt this morning. All clear. I'm raising an imaginary glass to you Lynne (but maybe not with the usual toast, Up Yer Bum!)
