We have a small caddy for food waste which is collected weekly and taken for burning. Food is put into composting bags which I also use in the camper. The lid locks so no worries about animals getting into it.
We have 3 bins - 1 gets emptied of household rubbish i.e. plastic which isn't recycled; the others: 1 for mowings, weeds etc. and the other for plastic, card, paper, foil, plastic food trays, yoghurt pots ….. are emptied alternate week to the household bin. We also have 2 compost bins in the garden so kitchen roll/tissues, paper, card goes in there along with weeds from the garden ………. we also have a shredder, which we argue over
