Struggling
« on: December 03, 2014, 06:43:10 AM »

Well couple of days no hrt insomnia back anxiety in the night, waking v hot though sweat not running off me throughout the night like it was and not day flushes yet / haven't taken ad'd or Valium wanted to see how I cope and yesterday in work felt ok - but yesterday evening could feel the tight chest anxiety starting and sleep is a big problem
Again / got unopened starflower oil even that can have side effects, got my rescue remedy which I'm using, got my ad and Valium and barely used estradot and Utrogestan and really don't know where to go from here lack of sleep is awful as so many of you understand / feel shattered x

Hi Karenja
Have you managed any exercise yet?....I was in the same boat as you with exercise...had a panic attack after doing an exercise dvd and I have been scared of doing it again in case I had another (ended up in a&e lol).......maybe start with yoga or something gentle? will help burn off adrenaline......I know how awful it can be.....away to start a yoga class this morning so hope it helps...My chest also gets tight but find lol that its trapped wind and rubbing the area helps...I have also been given omeprazole from gp which helps...Hope you have a better day and hugs to you XXX

MayB you are not giving your body a chance to equalise?  Trying too many things without giving any a chance to 'work'.

What did you take and eat yesterday?  At least you know that the HRT helps with the sweats!  What will you do about the Valium?  Your GP can only support you if you take his advice!

Hi Karenja.......you say you are scared of side effects of drugs, we all are no one takes them for the fun of it, but stress left untreated or uncontrolled can have equally a bad effect on the body of not worse, add lack of sleep into the mix and your body is under immense stress.

Hi Karenja

Sorry you are feeling so anxious.

Please may I ask, why didn't you give the HRT patches a bit longer to work.
I get horrible anxiety and depression too, and I have had my new dose patch on just 10 days.
I dunnno if my flushes are subididng, or, it's just that the weather has got a bit colder.
10 days is too sooon to tell.
For many women, HRT can feel funny until it kicks in.
The risks are tiny, Dr Annie Evans put the risks into perspective in one of her videos but sadly I dont have a link to it, you can go on youtube though.
The valium is like an emergency drug, not good long term. It has a really long half life also which means you can't take it too often, as the last dose is still in the system.
My mum used starflower oil when she wanted to come off hrt after 5 years on it and she said it worked.
Magnesium is a great muscle relaxer and can help with sleep.
If you get magnesium, go careful as it is a laxative, but magnesium glycinate or magnesium maleate are not so laxative and more bio-available, meaning less of it is excreted out of the body.
I hope this post helps.

Oh karenja
I feel for you I really do but wouldn't it be better just to try your AD it will take a few weeks but in the long run it might be beneficial. As CLKD said your GP can only help and support you if you try these things. I know a lot of people are afraid to, me being one , but it's worth a shot you can't live everyday like this.

I was the same.  So I made a chart with all the medication I was given.

For example for several years I was on ADs morning, lunch-time and evening; plus BBs at night; plus Colpermin and another medication to aid digestion.  Putting down how I felt each evening [my best time of day] and ticking off each medication dosage gave me a record of how I felt. [1-5].  Any really bad side-effects were put onto the chart in a big X  ::) as well as plus signs when I felt better.

What do you intend to try first?

Hi CLKD, well I assume I cant mix the starflower and ad's or valium but can mix the starflower and hrt? so Im edging towards the second option or just the starflower? x

Unfortunately star flower will do nothing for your anxiety.

If you decide against both HRT and also AD's why don't you try St John Wort.
At least then you would be taking something to help your anxiety.

I was in same place as you this time last year, didn't want anymore HRT, didn't want AD, stuck in a rut wanted a quick fix ASAP (like a lot of women on here) tried menopace for few months, beta blockers (they did the job) but came off when I took new HRT and that kicked in after few months, know you can't have them, have you thought about St johns wort as HB said? It is herbal. If I lived near you I would be riund like a shot give you support but unfortunately I'm not so all I can do is read your posts and give encouragment, we are all here

I would be round like a shot too, big hugs

I know exercise is not an option at the moment so the next best thing hunny is to get your breathing under control and more regulated as I suspect the anxiety is making you breath fast and erratic and that adds to the chest pains/tightness.
I hope you have a better day tomorrow and please remember this will pass xxx
