We stopped buying for each other a couple of years ago.  It was getting harder and harder to think of what to buy.

My boss loves cruises she and her partner used to go on loads years ago. Now he has passed she hasn’t been on one but she misses it. I’ve never been on one, I’m a peculiar traveller. I like trains best.

Aww that’s a shame, there are so many single passengers, same situation as your boss, I don’t know about all the cruise lines but Cunard has a daily get together for single people, not like a dating thing but just for singles to get together and maybe make new friends. Don’t think I’d go alone either mind you  :-\

I certainly wouldn't want a 'get together', I'm quite happy in my own company ; reading, watching TV .......

I think it’s quite a good idea tbh, especially as a lot of older people who have lost their partners and who don’t want to be alone at Christmas etc,not for me either though

She probably would go. She went to Pakistan on her own for two weeks last year. I could never ever go that in a million years. I like company and someone with me to help me feel safe. I’m a panic prone type who’d get lost!

When I was younger I did travel on my own....sometimes I must admit it was to visit friends in the States but holiday to the Med I would go on my own...all though must admit it was to quieter places as not a party resort animal.

But a cruise on my own I am not sure about.  I love to chat but always remember my late Nana who went with my Uncle and Aunt and said they always ended up at a table with people they wished they could toss overboard ;D.  My neighbours went last year for 2 weeks at Xmas and I find it weird - she never goes out because of un well - but says a cruise really makes her better.

Must admit I begged Hubby last year to take me away at Christmas to a holiday cottage.....didn't work as his Mum comes to ours
every year and no he is one of five!!!!

You could all go on a cruise at Christmas,it’s so lovely and you can either enjoy the festivities or not,it’s not forced on anyone.
We always take a table for two,as yes, we’ve been on a shared table and ended up asking to be moved because two other people were so obnoxious, the last thing my OH wanted was me diving across the table to shut them up  ;D ;D

Oh I understand the [awful] routines that C.mas/New Year throws up.  When Mum got involved with a new man who moved in  >:( we decided to have C.mas here  :-* : then it snowed.  Hard. So we wouldn't have travelled anyway, we felt really thwarted  ;D

We R full of b.days B4 start of December  >:( :D
