Love Christmas (AT Christmas!  :D) love thye run-up to Christmas in DECEMBER  :D
but dislike New Years, and the bit in-between Christmas and New Years

This time on New Years Eve we fly to Florida for a Caribbean Cruise
I hate New Years Eve itself, its maudling.
First time we've been away on New Years Eve but I Intend to be on holiday much more often at New Years in future, we're only not flying to America at Christmas itself this year because we have the 'kids' at home, but next year when we have a house in Spain (Purchase going through, fingers crossed!)  Christmas will be out there for us all. Hoping to start a new tradition. :)

My neighbours moved to Spain about 4 years ago....sadly lost touch as they don't seem to pop round when in UK.

But remember her saying that they manage to get all the usual Xmas fare for dinner as so many British Supermarkets around and one even has Iceland and Waitrose stuff....personally I think I would go for a Paella and several good bottles of rioja. :)

I know from when I was younger that they used to make alot out of Epiphany - give gifts etc.....but over the years so many things become westernised.....we never did Hallowean like they do now..........

Excellent plan about the paella and rioja! I may or may not put a string of tinsel around the dish to sparkle in the sunshine!!  :D

Yes Halloween was no big deal when I was a kid in Yorkshire, no joke, the best we did was an old sheet over our head,  trailing in the inevitable mud  :D or even a bin bag with our arms poked through!   ;D  These days its almost as big a deal as Christmas in some shops isn't it?  :o

Halloween used to be ......Apples dangling from strings from a string line which was attached from one radiator to another and you had to eat an apple while it was moving/dangling with your hands behind your back on your knees  ;D followed by duck apple where my brothers used to hold my head in the bowl of water while I tried to grab an apple with my teeth and not drown  ;D Hours of simple inexpensive fun!!!

About 10 years ago I was so disillusioned with the hoards of kids knocking on our door for sugar I made my own very cheery sign (in halloween orange colours and cut out pictures of pumpkins 🎃 - not such a misery guts honest) wishing them Happy Halloween but basically telling them to S** off. The sign comes out every year and makes me smile because it works! Noone knocks!

Never get trick or treaters here at our cul-de-sac, always buy chocolate ‘just in case’ and we eat it instead. I hate hate hate New Years Eve ‘shudder.’ It’s the forced ‘you must party or else’ vibe and I’m always sat sadly at home watching shite on the telly. I’d be better able to party at an actual party.

Have to agree....hubby used to think you had to go out....just not my thing.  Stick with old Nana's tradtion of Hot Pot with crust and everything pickled to go with it!  Then I let New Year in with a glass bubbly and look out at the fire works that someone thinks they should let off(like that bit really)

Got to admit yesterday went in the Range yesterday and the bedding was so conflicting ----pumpkins ghouls and santas and snowmen.  For goodness sake get one over before you start the other!!!
