Not good timing! I think I would carry on with the current dose until day 26 then wait for your bleed.

Thanks so much for your advice. I spoke to my GP who advised to stop progesterone for 14 days and then take 200mg for 14 days. Hopefully this will help to regulate my periods

Hi All
I started this morning (3 pumps oestrogen, small pea size testosterone) and i felt light headed about an hour and half later. This scared me lol. I called the clinic and they said its not uncommon and this will settle.

How long did it take for you guys to work - i have anxiety/low mood/tearfulness badly xxxx

Hi everyone,
I'm 3 months in on this HRT journey. I am 2 years post menopausal. I am currently on 100mg continuous Utrogestan together with 2 pumps daily of Oestrogel.
Initially everything was great, my fuzzy brain lifted, my mood lifted and the night sweats disappeared however I have noticed as the weeks go on that i am feeling less well  :( I have horrible heartburn especially at bedtime and I have a feeling in my tummy similar to what it felt like when your period was about due. I also have mild nausea which has affected my appetite. I am also getting fatigue mid morning and bad constipation. My sleep has improved a bit however I suffer from compressed discs in my neck so am never really without pain so this in itself make a good night sleep unattainable.
I have read that you can take Utrogestan vaginally and I'm seriously thinking of giving this a go to see if this will help with my returning symptoms. I have a few questions though.
1. If I am on continuous Utrogestan do I only take it every 2nd day vaginally due to it being absorbed more successfully than orally?
2. I use Vagifem 3 times a week, would I continue to take it?
3. I am worried that the lining of my uterus is thickening which is why I am having this feeling of a period beginning. Again I read that if your oestrogen and progesterone ratios are not correct it could mean the lining is still thickening when it shouldn't be, could that be the case?
Sorry for all the questions girls but this HRT melarkey is a minefield.

Hi,
I’d try upping your oestrogel to three pumps.

I struggled with progesterone and switched to taking it vaginally but it didn’t really change much as I think I’m just progesterone intolerant.

I eventually ended up on 4 pumps along with the utrogestan and an anti depressant and this has ended up being the best course for me as I’m probably the best I’ve ever been for years.

It takes a while to get the dosage right so you do have to do a bit of a trial and error.

If you want to get your lining checked ask your doctor for a referral to get it checked put to give you peace of mind.

Good luck.

Hi Katy

How did the  4 pumps end up working for you?, what were your symptoms that it got rid if and how long did it take?

Only asking because I'm on the same ... 4 pumps xx

Hi - I couldn’t reply to your personal message because I haven’t posted 10 times yet!

It’s a bit weird for me because I am also taking an anti depressant to counteract what I think are the effects of the progesterone.

I had been off anti depressants for over a year before I started HRT and was fine. However when I started taking the HRT I actually went downhill and by the time I was three months in I was in a bad way with anxiety. With a bit of research I’ve put this down to me being progesterone intolerant (from the symptoms I’ve had all my life - terrible PMT, couldn’t take the pill and post natal depression). So I started taking my anti depressant again (smallest dose of sertraline) which has helped me to the point where I actually feel the best I have for a very long time.

Unfortunately because I started the anti d without trying other options of progesterone I won’t  know if any of those would have worked.

I did start taking the progesterone vaginally every other day but not long enough to see if there was any change. The specialist I spoke to wasn’t a great fan of taking it that way - even though Dr Newson does advocate it.

So it may be worth just researching progesterone intolerance if the effects are causing you anxiety?

It is a minefield. 🤯

How long have you been on sertraline 50mg?, I'm exactly 5 weeks.

I haven't tried the progesterone yet as I'm due to take that 1st April.

Do you think the oestrgel took away your anxiety too?,  or just the sertraline?

Hi - I’m new here so not sure how this all works. I’m 52 and started having hot flushes in the summer and excruciating joint pain that was so bad it would wake me up and I could barely move. I was put on HRT estrogel and progesterone for 12 days of the month. The flushes and pain went but my weight has rocketed and I mean soared. I’ve been going to the gym 6 days a week and cutting carbs, sugar and wine but nothing is helping.
The GP calls once a month and told me to halve my dose of gel (I was putting 2 pumps a day on so now down to 1 pump a day). The weight has stabilised but no amount of working out is shifting it (I need to lose 3 stone).
The problem I’m now having is incredibly sore tender breasts, so bad that when I turn over in the night the excruciating pain wakes me, it’s now spread to my left armpit. Terrible bruising burning pain. Wear high impact sports bra and have to cradle them when walking.
Please tell me I’m not alone as I’m ready to throw the gel in the bin as the pain in my boobs is that bad and also the weight gain I’ve gone from 12 stone to 15 and a half. Thankfully I’m tall but seriously that much weight???

Can I ask a question please? I take utrogestan for 25 days and sandrena gel for 28 days as directed by my GP but I am wondering why I have to take the utrogestan for 3 days less.
Any ideas?

Hi yam 900 The gel should be taken every day no break regardless if your Peri or post menopause the utrogestan should also be taken every day no breaks if your post menopause the 3 day break for utrogestan is out of date and would most likely lead to a bleed if your post menopause no period for 12 months then it's taken continuous hope this helps

Julie55 That is most helpful. I am 10 years post menopausal and yes I do periodically have a bleed. :(

Hi
Anybody help here?
Started my first utrogestan phase two nights ago and I wake with more anxiety than I already have. I took it by mouth first then vaginally.  Same thing.
