Just seen your post CLKD.
Reminded me of last year. Driving to mum's and having to check my rear view mirror only to see a massive spider dangling just behind my head. Best emergency stop ever.
Managed to usher it out of the car......hate them with a passion.  8)

I have been bitten by hamsters and guinea pigs over the years...Oh and add in rabbits. We had quite a menagerie when the kids were young.

Rather have any of the above than a spider....In fact I quite miss my little animals.

There is a black lop eared rabbit on the loose near me.  both daughter and I have tried to catch it with no success.....yet. If I do and its not claimed I have another pet  ::)I

CLKD - Spiders are sneaky - you don't know you've been bitten.

Oh I hate them too....
I remember as a child I could hear them walking over the polystyrene ceiling tiles in my mothers house.  I really could hear them - they were huge.  I still hate them and I think that's why I'm a bit OCD with cleaning and moving furniture.
My sister is even worse than me.  It is awful and many ppl don't understand the phobia.  I know they won't hurt me but I am terrified of the big bruisers.  Sob :(. Be so glad when spider season is over :(

I love them but really feel for those who are scared by them.  My husband is terrified of them which is difficult when he's gardening and also difficult because I like them around but he makes me get rid of them all when they come in. He woke me up at 3 this morning because he needed to use the bathroom and there was a really large female scrabbling around in the bath.

Have you tried any of the therapies groundhog? It seems daft to put yourself through all of this worry and fear if there is a way to combat it.

For anyone who doesn't like spiders place a conker in each corner of your rooms and this will keep spiders away.
It really does work! :)

Oh my goodness!!
After reading these posts I had to shake the towel, the dressing gown, the pillows - everything, before I got in the bed!
The thought of a spider running across my face - noooooooooo!  :o
Buried myself under the duvet but had a hot flush and had to come up for air!! ;D

Never knew that about the u bend!!!!

Do the conkers work?? mixed thoughts from everyone on this? We have had quite a few HUGE ones in the past 2 weeks. Thank god hubby can deal with them - he really needs to be quicker though and not phaff around so much!! The blighters run so fast

I really do fear spiders - why, I have no idea - totally irrational, I know. Why are they so scary???

It's all those legs.....It's not natural  ;D

I know what would happen if I put conkers in our rooms. The dog would eat them  ::)

My mother has a spider catcher thingy. I sucks them up and then you let them go outside.

Dyan - 'oh no they don't '   ;D - we put conkers in every room and the spiders built webs over them  :D

I was bitten by a bl/white very small spider in the garden, stood and waited for a reaction - nowt ......
Bitten by a hamster and by rabbits/cats/dogs ...... OUCH.  Honeybun: Will the lop eared bunny be caught in a fishing net, that's how we catch the one that wanders around our Estate .........  ;)

The spidery catcity thing can be bought from Lakeland Plastics ..... we use a pint glass with a stiff piece of card but the spider legs still spill over  :o

… after ………….  :-X

As an aside - at 2.20 a.m. I woke to find a mozzie on my ear lobe so I shook my head.  Dropping off to sleep, at 2.50 DH was swishing around as it had landed on him.  We were then awake until 4.00 waiting for it to land ………. which it did, on my arm: WHACK! then I had to wash the sheet today because there was a smudge  :o

My very worse beastie moment was sitting down to eat a lovely ripe peach.

As I brought it towards me to have a bite I saw two little things sort of moving in the middle. Peach went up in the air. It was an earwig who had taken up residence in the stone.
I will only eat a peach if it has no stone.....Not getting caught like that again  ;D
