Can't remember the last time I saw a spider in the house. It's the time of the year when they appear so I will see one soon no doubt.

I couldn't find the lemon pledge anywhere either, so wondering if it has been discontinued? Had a dreadful night, looking out for 8 legged beasties  in the bedroom and then my smoke alarm started bleeping all night, so have had the fire service here this morning!  :hotflash: X
The flat is spotless now cleaned around with  some pledge I've had for years, called classic pledge which has a limone perfume in the ingredients.  May spray on sides of bed, Anne! Apparently if you spray in on your window sill and frames, they won't cross the barrier.  Luckily the fireman didn't start looking around at the loo roll stuffed in the sink drainage holes and plugs in everywhere   ;D ;D
By the way the lemon pledge is on their website and do wipes too.
I have some eucalyptus essential oil, will put a few drops of that around tonight, because they don't like it either

Oh dear Pixie, you sound awfully pre-occupied with the eight legged creatures!

I dont like them either but I really try and remember that I am so much bigger than them and they really cant do me any harm.

Have you had any counselling about this....that may well help.

Last night, just before getting into bed I was dimly aware of a largish brown lump on the floor, I thought it was a leaf. But, I didn't have my lenses in and couldn't really see,  so popped the emergency glasses on.  I was confronted with a massive spider (3" across the legs, 1/2" body)

I am sure it was taunting me, doing the spider version of the New Zealand Haka.  I remained calm and grabbed a piece of kitchen roll which was handy and covered the offending beast. Then grabbed the whole thing and sprinted outside, to dump the whole handful. Can't comment on the state of the spider, as I didn't look.

The bad news is, the bedroom windows and patio doors have been open all day because of painting. Goodness knows what will be in here tonight. :o

Honeyb, did you know spiders can bite? I think Pixie has a well balanced approach.  ;D

Had a humongous spider in our bedroom last night too.  No way I was sleeping until it had been removed.  Of course had to deal with it myself as I didn't want to lose sight of it.  So bravely did the same as Limpy!  They are huge this year, must have been all that rain!  ;D

I was bitten several years ago in our garden.  We have 2 large beasties around the house this week.  So long as I know where they are headed  ::) - I can deal.

Our quail eat them.   :o  ........... using Pledge is cruel, better to stamp on them or use rolled up newspaper if you must kill them.

Spiders' web is the strongest material made - and is used in some countries to bind wounds.

Me too - anyone who can be cruel enough to put an unsuspecting spider down someone's top is just not nice!  :ange:

My dad used to give me a big spider from the garden and tell me to give it to my mum who hated them. He never did understand how she could be scared of something that couldn't hurt her. She didn't like cows either but thankfully we didn't have any of them in the garden.
