Tsunami warning on the Californian coast yesterday afternoon, eventually withdrawn following an earthquake of 7.

Dreadful storm here for 4 hours intermittently, rain trying to get inside, lids blowing down the road, bins over  :o. Blue sky, calm now.

Terrible.
Wind and rain woke me a few times in the night, gawd knows how they've coped in Wales which is where the storm hit first I think. 🫤

Wales will be fine although most of Anglesey is without power over night.

We were there in 1975 when the 1st of the recent big storms hit!  Moved out of the flat 3 floors up over looking the sea, which came into the flat that very night  :o.  Would have swept off our newly given wedding glass ware from the units .

It's' been blustery in our area we've had worse.  Not particularly cold.

No main newspapers to be had anywhere !  At least I've been able to source the quiz pages  ;D

Still over 80,000 homes/businesses without power in Wales. Roofs off. Trees down. Flood warnings. Not sure I'd consider that "fine" to be honest . Quietening down a bit here in the south but I'm debating whether to go to a friend's party tonight or not as the forecast is for winds to strengthen again and its a trip of around 20 miles on mostly country roads. Thinking of those toppling trees.

Wales is used to high winds, the difference being is that the wind is off the water meaning that the tide is unable to go 'out'.  The Student accommodation and hotels along the sea front by Constitution Hill boarded up windows to three levels from about end of October  ::) until late February.  The Prom gets ripped up most years ...... the bandstand has at least been rebuilt.

We've shut the curtains against it all.  Could U stay over Taz rather than returning on dark lanes?

Also: the governments keep insisting on everything being electric ........... how will that work in the future?  Many homes are without power and water, with modern properties being built with a back up heating system, i.e. a wood burner or open fire.  Our heating system requires electricity to trigger the pump - we do have torches, I won't have candles around.  The wood burner is handy so we could sleep downstairs under sleeping bags and blankets.

Time to get the emergency foil blankets to hand ?  My sister has candles and lanterns around the cottage and an open fire to cook on, they are so used to power outages that everything is to hand.  There cottage is over 200 years old with thick walls and quite settled in a dip on Anglesey.  The bridges to/from the Island won't be easy to negotiate and 1 is likely 2 B closed for general maintenance for about 2 years.  7 Bridge is closed.

Morning.  Hopefully none of U suffered any damage, it's blown all night and is still gusting.  DH has gone OUT in this  >:(  >:(

Not particularly cold.  Sister on Anglesey had power back by 10.45 p.m. when it had been threatened to not be connected until 6.00 a.m.!

If it wasn't drizzling this wind would be a 'good dry'  :D

After the storm yesterday, it’s still raining but at least the heavy winds have subsided.
A few trees down, and lots of debris.

We've driven across 2 counties, plenty of leaf debris and several branches down.  Drizzling.  Hard.  Every time this morning that I went to refill bird feeders, the rain began  >:(
