Hi, I`m new to the site and found it by looking for info about VA.
Just what I`ve read over the last few days has made me feel so much more positive

Bit about me:
Periods started at 10
Periods stopped naturally at 49 in 2003
Couple of months later was diagnosed with oestrogen positive breast cancer, treated with surgery, radiotherapy and 5 years of Tamoxifen
Have a large (3 inch diam) fibroid
Been on anti-convulsants for epilepsy for 44 years.
I`m sadly "lucky" not to be in a sexual relationship, but could do with a really good cuddle from time to time

My VA probs (all the usual: dryness, itchy, sore, aching, dragging pelvic feeling, and the occasional UTI) started about 2008, quickly diagnosed by my wonderful gynae and attributed by him to the Tamoxifen treatment. Nobody that I know has (or talks about) VA, and so I thought he was correct.
For about 18 months I was much better just using Replens MD, then started getting UTIs each time I tried the application.
Because of the cancer I shouldn`t use any oestrogen at all, but in 2010 my gynae prescribed Ovestin cream using the QOL argument and I agreed. Tried it 3 times and felt very strange each time - visual disturbances, dizziness, feeling wobbly. After research I found out that it shouldn`t be used in conjunction with my 2 anti-convulsants, phenobarbital and phenytoin.
I resigned myself to acceptance of the unpleasant symptoms, but the UTIs are becoming more frequent, and the antibiotics are getting less effective each time. I dread the UTIs, and I`m only 57. Is this it for the rest of my life?
Thanks to this wonderful site I realise that I`m not the only one with an amazing disappearing fanny

I`ve read a lot recently about D-mannose and Uva Ursi (bearberry) natural remedies for UTIs.
Has anybody tried these with success?
Things that have helped me are:
Replens MD
Pears soap, which is pure soap, nothing added
Sudocrem (baby nappy rash cream) for itchiness. It has a lovely lavender smell which hides the unpleasant other smell

Not crossing my legs when sitting
