Beffuddled and bemused

Been free of bleeding for 4 years now get small loss everyday accompanied with what feels like period pains. gynae checkup shows no probs with uterus or ovaries but exam showed some changes due to vaginal atrophy. should i bleed evryday and have pains akin to cramps and stitch. also have hot flushes 100s times per day and soaking night sweats. at wits end but trying to laugh it off. Hi loonylady
 :welcomemm:
 :bighug:  :bighug:  :) Hugs always available here!  ;)
VA needs treatment - something local like Vagifem would help but full HRT should help the flushes too. Have you considered that?
Why not introduce yourself on "New Members" - newbies often get missed in the middle of existing threads and others will want to welcome you.

Im now on Vagifem 3 times a week 25m the 2 times stopped working as well
Uts not a cure all and for many of us HRT isnt an option in anyway shape or form

Hi looony
Now if youve been free of periods for 4 years YOU MUST SEE GP
Get a double check just to make sure
No you shouldnt be bleeding everyday not 4 years after and have period pains
Go back i would and as for flushes they sound horrible poor you cant the GP give you something?
Id be getting that sorted before I worry about the Atrophy unless it is your Vaginal walls that are bleeding if thats so they should have told you thats what was bleeding and then you could have taken HRT in some form or other xxxxxx

Hi everyone - I havent been here for a while struggling with the vagina thing still and the rest - went to GP but as putting the vagifem pessaries in was too painful she gave me some  HRT cream which I am supposed to insert twice a week - I have had a period inbetween taking it for 2 weeks and then twice a week - during my period I felt 'normal' down there.  Am paranoid about cancer again - still have the pain, the anxiety, lower abdominal pain and stabbings inside and out  and periods when I am wide awake with a feeling of dread at 4am - by 2 in the afternoon I am exhausted - could cry for England but am more annoyed at myself for moaning about it all.  Thanks for all your wonderful posts - I think I am going to try the vagifem again as putting this cream into the tube and then washing the tube is not the most hygenic of things and - yet again I am worrying about this.  Just out of interest I have a terrible 'metal' taste in my mouth - is this normal?  Have forgotten what normal is I!!!!  Thanks again - this is a truly wonderful site ;)

Well deduced MrsP one internal the other for external bits. Day 2 of nausea and dizziness.  Still can't decide if it coincidence or not. Will persevere for now. Finding this forum is the best medicine too.

I use it Suzi while using a bleed HRT. It's fine - you just put it in as normal.

My VA began 4 years into meno. I too had no idea what was  happening.  After diagnosis I thought " That's it then - old age now means leaky bladder, soreness, daily bleeding and painful nooky. "  On top of depression due to 3 bereavements in 11 months  I felt dreadful.
I am very fortunate that my Gp is great - added Vagifem and Ovestin to my growing arsenal if medication. Result has been spectacular! No more bleeding, soreness or painful nooky and a bonus of completely curing my leaky bladder. I have completed the 14 days and into the 2x weekly routine. Don't know how long this will last but delighted with the relief for now. If it hadn't been for finding this forum I wouldn't have had the confidence to go and get the VA sorted in the first place. THANK-YOU! :thankyou:

Yes - Vagifem internally and Ovestin externally - apparently no scientific proof of external benefit but lots of anecdotal evidence and its worked wonders for me.

Thought I'd post here although have posted in the privacy section around the same subject, but as I have been given new information today I would like to share it with you and see if anyone else has had a similar experience.
Story: Low dose HRT Very low dose 0.3mg oestrogen and 1.5 of progesterone and vagifem. All has been good until 4 months ago when I was having more VA problems so started using 3 x a week. Have a great GP but she said she would rather I did the 14 day throw everything at it and then go back to 2 x a week. This worked fine a couple of months ago but then after only a month i was sore again and have had to do another 14 day stint. On holiday so thought great I can go and see my GP. Did a little research and thoght there are other vaginal products I could try with more oestrogen. Unfortunately GP on holiday  :( so arranged to see another lady GP I had seen before. So I marched in feeling all optimistic only for her to say she wasn't sure  >:( and didn't I know about the cream issue  :o. No I said. Well according to her it is felt that as we end up taking 2 different sources of oestrogen that this can impact on your uterus ( if you still have one) and cause thickening. There is the thought it increases the risk of endometrial cancer. So basically I would be better making another appt to see my usual GP as she didn't want to give me anything the other GP wouldn't have. Well you know how it is when your sore and have had to wait ages for an appt only to be told they can't help and go and see the usual one.  >:(
I thought that generally the absorption of the vaginal oestrogen into the system was meant to be very low and therefore not an issue???
She said had I thought about using KY jelly, nearly leapt down her throat at this point. Didn't mean to be told her the other GP said it was the last thing we should use. She looked mortified. Did add we already used lube (didn't add that we could write our own scientific paper on the different types and which works best!!! :D)
So she has given me Replens which I haven't tried before and some of the feed back isn't great, but felt that if I had least given it a go and it was useless I could tell the GP in 2 WEEKS  time  :-\.
So anyone have any comment as to her information, heard anything similar or managed to swap easily from vagifem to something else without too many problems. Personally I would have thought that as I'm taking such a low dose HRT it wouldn't be as bad.
So as usual ladies your thoughts or experiences, both good and bad gratefully received
Thanks  :) Sorry its such a long post
