Ah I see. I don't know about the incidence with menopause as it's something I've had for a long time, I've always had problems with my digestive system. I had a gastroscopy a few weeks ago because of reflux and upper abdominal pain. It's the 6th one I've had over the years. Have you not had your upper gastric system checked?

I've three endoscopies in my life, two when I was at university and one in 2016 which was the last time I was severely anaemic. The first two were because I had ulcers, the 3rd turned up nothing and they were looking for a bleed then like now. My doctor said last night that she was ordering another endoscopy to be done in the next month or so. I wonder if the reflux might be GERD?

At least that's being checked. I'd been taking ibuprofen 3 years ago which can damage the stomach lining. I don't touch it now. I was diagnosed with Barratts Oesophagus. That's another story but suffice to say I don't hold a lot of trust in what I'm told by medical professionals

Hi Marge
It’s an horrible thing to cope with and can totally creep into everything you do
When mines at it worst I will wake up feeling like I’m suffocating usually about 4am I know it’s mainly health related and became so much worse 2 yrs ago when I was told I had a prolapse and atrophy I then had two falls that put me on crutches moved home and retired It does come and go but is always sitting in my shoulder and it doesn’t take much to set it off Tried CBT … useless.. hypnosis ..expensive and useless So I try to just ride it out Life is wonderful for us ladies

I was told from an early age the if I felt 2 ill to go 2 school I wouldn't be allowed to 'go out' that evening.  When I was anxious I was told that 'once U have said 'yes' 2 something, U will be letting people down if you cancel'  :-\.

So there's a certain amount of old habits internally, anxiety = panic which means that I can't do what is planned.  Spontaneously is better, mostly.

And what if I am ill  :-\  :'( .......... it would ruin everything!
The rule about not going out in the evening if I had been too unwell to go to school was one which my parents enforced very strictly and it has lasted throughout my adult life! I just can't drop it at all. Quite recently I was at an evening do and one of the other people there said that she had been too unwell to go to work that day. I didn't say anything to her but I felt instant thoughts of disapproval!!  They didn't do the rule about letting people down.

My main anxiety time is when I wake up in the early hours of the morning. I have learned to try and ignore it. However my main area of anxiety is to do with health and particularly at this time of year when I want to renew my travel insurance and book trips. Every symptom which I have triggers anxiety and I hold back from booking trips due to the "What if..." ideas in my head. I love travel but I hate the insurance aspect every year because I don't trust insurers even though I have never made a big claim (just 1 small one and used the EHIC card a couple of times for minor issues).

I also get it if I wake. But it's usually about something real lurking in my head. And I also am nervous about booking travel. Not because of insurance, I have been in hospital overseas and my insurance company was great, but just because I think I might be ill, and I travel alone. The last 3 years has been something happening one thing after another, me or a family member or friend.  And I've now got that what next feeling. I expect bad news constantly. Don't be put of travel, go somewhere you're confident in if you do become unwell and maybe a shorter trip. Travel does wonders for your outlook and confidence.

. I am not put off travel at all. I want to book something but my anxiety is holding me back just in case.. I do want to see new places rather than going back to previous ones.

Oh ok. I must have misunderstood when you said you hold back due to what if. I hope you enjoy and stay well wherever you end up.
