Anything help morning anxiety and panic
« on: November 24, 2025, 12:57:32 PM »

Hi,  I am 50 years old and on HRT, previously 0.5mg Sandrena gel and 100g Utrogestan. Symptoms returned a few weeks back so increased to 1mg Sandrena gel, same prog as before - this was 6 weeks ago.

I am still struggling with morning dread and anxiety.  This can on occasions subside as day goes on othertimes it continues till late afternoon.

I am also taking Ad's which I do feel have helped. I just need to get over this final hurdle which is what is stopping me from returning to work.

I have a Gp appointment this afternoon for a review of the Ad's. I am still not feeling right though, I know the appointment is only for 10mins and I am wondering if any of you suffered like I am, but found that the anxiety surges subsided?.

I was in this same situation 2.5 years ago, symptoms came out of the blue! The surges were very bad then and I do remember them getting less frequent after I started HRT.

Do I just need to ride it out for another 6 weeks for the increased HRT to take affect?

So fed up

So sorry you're feeling like this.

I know how it sounds but what has helped me initially is Nichole Sachs "mind your body" book. Through that - her method of journal speak (this had immense effect on me). Through her podcast I found out about a book that has left me broken (childhood trauma resurfaced over borderline mother), I made self referral for mental health services and was diagnosed with PTSD and referred for eye movement therapy which worked wonders.
I am a true believer that all this coming out at our age is accumulation of issues throughout life, they resurface, trigger and leave us hardly able to function. However, I think it is also worth checking your vitamin and mineral levels, deficiency of some can make it worse.
Nichole Sachs podcast is on spotify and it is a good place to start healing.

Hi Wania

Thank you so much for replying. All I can say is wow!

I am waiting an assessment for therapy and its so strange that you mention Emdr as that is the therapy I am hoping to be referred for!.  I have childhood trauma also and it has followed me throughout my life.
I totally agree with your view that at this time of our lives all of that trauma resurfaces and affects us mentally. My parents had a violent marriage, my dad has mental health issues which went undiagnosed, then my mam took an overdose. So much happened and I know still affects me today.
Me and my siblings ended up in a children's home for a period of time and also a women's refuge with my mam. So my childhood was very chaotic, unpredictable, unsafe and full of constant worry and stresses.

I am.so grateful for the podcast information you have kindly provided.and I will have a listen.

I have tried counselling and CBT in the past but personally feel they haven't been the right therapy for me.

You are a breath of fresh air as we seem to think alike.

I do suspect the waiting list on the NHS will be v long for Emdr therapy, however, I will have to wait unless I find the money to go private.

I am pleased the Emdr therapy helped you so much.
I have had full bloods taken and been told I am in the lower end of prediabetic.

Diabetes runs in my family as my Grandma had it and a few years ago my mam also was told she was prediabetic and managed to reverse it. I am in a high risk group due ti my ethnicity too. I have an appointment with the nurse in 2 weeks to discuss glucose monitoring further and lifestyle change.

My blood pressure was slightly raised a few weeks ago too, is it any wonder when I am in stressed out state most of the day, panicking and constantly on edge.

I do feel in a better place than I was at the beginning of this month but not where I was hoping to be.

Thanks again x

Also there is a very interesting video on YouTube from Dr Naomi Potter describing how mental health can be affected so badly in peri menopausal women to the extent where they feel suicidal.

This was me a few few weeks ago! She also has another video on childhood trauma affecting menopausal women too.
