Hi Wania
Thank you so much for replying. All I can say is wow!
I am waiting an assessment for therapy and its so strange that you mention Emdr as that is the therapy I am hoping to be referred for!. I have childhood trauma also and it has followed me throughout my life.
I totally agree with your view that at this time of our lives all of that trauma resurfaces and affects us mentally. My parents had a violent marriage, my dad has mental health issues which went undiagnosed, then my mam took an overdose. So much happened and I know still affects me today.
Me and my siblings ended up in a children's home for a period of time and also a women's refuge with my mam. So my childhood was very chaotic, unpredictable, unsafe and full of constant worry and stresses.
I am.so grateful for the podcast information you have kindly provided.and I will have a listen.
I have tried counselling and CBT in the past but personally feel they haven't been the right therapy for me.
You are a breath of fresh air as we seem to think alike.
I do suspect the waiting list on the NHS will be v long for Emdr therapy, however, I will have to wait unless I find the money to go private.
I am pleased the Emdr therapy helped you so much.
I have had full bloods taken and been told I am in the lower end of prediabetic.
Diabetes runs in my family as my Grandma had it and a few years ago my mam also was told she was prediabetic and managed to reverse it. I am in a high risk group due ti my ethnicity too. I have an appointment with the nurse in 2 weeks to discuss glucose monitoring further and lifestyle change.
My blood pressure was slightly raised a few weeks ago too, is it any wonder when I am in stressed out state most of the day, panicking and constantly on edge.
I do feel in a better place than I was at the beginning of this month but not where I was hoping to be.
Thanks again x
