So I had message from my doctor's surgery yesterday asking me to make a 'routine appointment with my GP for the week beg 22 Dec' through the Anima online system. This I did and queried at the same time whether they had the results of the capsule endoscopy yet (done on the 30th Sept). They have responded saying that the GP needs to talk to me about the histology of the capsule endoscopy.

Now I'm worried. One part of me says, if it was serious then they wouldn't be asking me to make an appointment in two weeks' time, the other part is saying that there must be something wrong otherwise they wouldn't need to speak to me.

As I am on holiday from work from tomorrow, these worrying thoughts are now going to dominate and probably ruin part of my holiday.

That's quite a long time between the end of September and end of December, 3 months? to be raising something serious with you. I would think they'd have been in touch very early. I've had two friends with cancer this year and both were contacted fairly promptly after their tests. I know though how worrying it is waiting for test results. Could you ask your GP to phone so you're not waiting?

The GP said two weeks ago that she would write the hospital an urgent letter requesting the results. Last Friday I lost the will and wrote my own letter to the hospital. To their credit, this Monday (so only 3 days later) a letter turned up in my MyChart from the consultant acknowledging my letter to them, apologising for the delay in reporting results and saying that the original person I was under was only a locum at the hospital. Apparently nothing of significance (although the results subsequently issued to my GP reported two ulcers and mild inflammation!). Now really have to have the upper GI then to rule out the stomach being the issue. Have just had a repeat blood test so fingers crossed my ferritin has risen from the 12 it was in November!
