That’s so strange MrsMitch, must admit I’m in some discomfort this am but I’m now in the “if I ignore”! Last time this happened a few years ago ie when outside got v sore they tested for thrush, bv etc and it came back clear and just went, what I don’t like is not really ever knowing or remembering what fixes it! The nurse then didn’t really know what to do, but she has left now so hopefully fresh eyes etc. It’s all highly frustrating and the more one focuses on it as we all know the worse it gets! Ovestin is always tough as eases initially and then not happy at all, like CLKD says the day after is hard! I may be just like Lime and MaryG and unable to cope with local oestrogen. The thrush thing is just even more confusing! Honestly what a bloomin nuisance it all is!

Urethritis is a possibility for women who have burning and irritation but no obvious signs of thrush, vaginitis or a UTI.  It's not just a sexually transmitted infection, it can be caused by tampons, lubricants, applicators or anything else inserted into the vagina that sets off irritation.

Looking back I think the cap (latex is bad news) and spermicidal gel did for me and it's never been 100% right since although nowhere near as bad as that.  Had I not been young at the time, it would have been assumed it was hormonal and VA.  Obviously I'll never know if it was urethritis but all my tests came back clear so I'm starting to wonder.

The thing is, it's not always hormone related and so oestrogen creams etc would make it worse of that is the case.

It's just a thought.

Yes MaryG it does feel the more I try to sort it with usual stuff the worse I’m making it, it just needs to calm down and probably left alone, it def seems quite angry down below and it could easily have got irritated in hot weather, also interesting about tampons as way back in the day I used to use them and there was sometimes a vague niggle like this, but nowhere near as bad, when I used them towards end of period although that could also have been start of VA?! Don’t get me started on the cap I tried that in my early 20’s, not great, didn’t last long with that as it always felt quite uncomfortable and v messy!

It’s a difficult one, to persevere or not and how to know if doing more damage or it gets worse before getting better…blimey there must be more to life than this faffing about ….  ;)

Think I’ll stick with Ovestin a few days longer, but if outside gets worse I’ll leave it till I speak to nurse!
