Gepretix
« on: July 23, 2025, 01:58:41 PM »

Have been started on Evorel 50 and Gepretix 100 mg continuous after being on Evorel conti for year and a half where I was having bleeds and spotting every month. Have only been on Gepretix for just over a week but the tiredness is ridiculous… I take one at night time and I am knocked out until the next morning…. Tired all day and last night I had such bad nausea nothing was helping. My appetite has also stepped up a notch 😩 will this settle down anytime soon? Feel like I want Evorel Conti back even with the bleeding 🫣

MayB go back to that regime if that was the reason for the change?  How old R U and what were your periods up 2 B4 you began HRT?

That crashing fatigue is awful [I'm going through similar with a change of anti-depressant medication  :-\].

These are not your only options.

First of all are you definitely postmenopausal as no standard HRT preparation will stop you bleeding if you are still cycling endogenously.

Assuming you are postmenopausal, given that you have the patches and the micronised progesterone, I would consider taking the progesterone vaginally, which can improve tolerability and avoid the metabolism into sedating by products which occurs with first pass delivery to the liver from the gut.

If this doesn't suit, you could consider either a mirena IUS or an oral progestin.

Well I’m 55 and hadn’t had a period as such in over 6 months when started Evorel Conti. Was unaware that usually only start Conti when 12 months have passed since last period… anyway doctor prescribed them and spotted most months while using them. Recently had a heavy 3 week period which was reason doctor said to try Evorel 50 and Gepretix . I can use these tablets vaginally? I didn’t know that either. Just finding the tiredness hard so wanted to know if it eased any .

Hi Utrogestan can be used vaginally, but it’s not advised to use Gepretix vaginally.

Ask for utrogestan instead of gepretix (it's the same thing, just a different brand which can be absorbed better vaginally) so you can take it vaginally.

Thankyou … I think I’m going to ask for the Utrogestan.

It's worth trying vaginally but more in hope than expectation. It usually sorts out digestive problems but it made no difference at all to my tiredness. Mine was a bit different to yours though as it prevented me sleeping at night but was wiped out all day. Have you considered evorel sequi? 6 months without a bleed doesn't make you menopausal. There seems to be a fable that everyone is menopausal by 54 even though some people aren't until their early 60s. You can have norethisterone orally (the progestin in evorel conti) though they come as 5ng pills even though you only need 1mg. Or a mirena.
