Newbie here
« on: April 22, 2025, 02:11:13 PM »

Hi

I'm Allie, 62 years old and really struggling with symptoms, that up until about a week ago, didnt even consider menopause related!
I'm Postmenopausal, my last period was over 10 years ago. They just stopped, aburuptly, I thought that was it....... little did I know lol
I have crushing fatigue that comes out of nowhere. Body aches and pains, and Ive also just been diagnosed with Osteoarthritis in my hands.
Ive suffered for years with depression and anxiety, mood swings are getting worse along with no interest whatsover in sex.
Gained a lot of weight, that Im really struggling with.

My doctor has asked me if i would consider HRT. I know nothing about it, apart from recaling the horror stories of years ago. My doc assures me things have changed, so Im asking for any advice please from ladies who have experienced HRT

Thanks in advance
Allie :)

:welcomemm: things surrounding menopause have certainly changed in that the research from years ago has been discredited.

Some find that keeping a mood/food/symptom diary of use to chart progress.  Which symptom would you like to ease first?

Have U had treatment for the depression and anxiety?  4 me they are different as well as low mood being different - difficult to explain!  A few anti-depressant medications can help ease anxiety surges, my GP gave me Propranolol - a betablocka - which helped me for several years.

Has your GP run recent blood tests i.e. for thyroid function, VitD levels ........ ?

I would definately try it, you've got nothing to loose and if it solves all your problems then great. You might need to try a few options to start with until you get the right fit so don't give up straight away. If in the end it's not for you at least you've tried.
