Anxiety/dread feelings
« on: April 22, 2025, 04:54:04 PM »

Hi I’m a newbie. My ‘journey’ has been ongoing for at least 6 years. I initially didn’t link my anxiety to perimenopause so ended up on antidepressants but didn’t feel better. My GP then wondered about PMDD so started patches, but with no improvement I then ended up on gel. After maxing out on that with no improvement a specialist checked bloods which showed very poor absorption. I am now on Lenzetto spray and in general I feel a lot better. The symptoms I’m left with now are multiple fleeting feelings of anxiety/dread that have a flush element to them. They don’t last long but I pretty much have them every day. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced similar? Thank you

:welcomemm:  for some hot flushes may begin with a sudden anxiety surge as hormone levels rise/fall.

Anxiety can be eased by dedicated treatments; there are a couple of anti-depressant medications that may help; my GP prescribed Propranolol - a betablocka to ease the early morning cortisol surges which left me feeling terrified.

What R your periods up to?

Hi and thanks, I’ve tried Fluoxetine, Sertraline & Venlafaxine. I had a brief go at  Propranolol but didn’t like how I felt.
I have a Mirena coil so have no periods at all now so I’ve no idea what my cycle is doing 😞
