Utrogestan Bleeding
« on: April 10, 2025, 07:35:54 PM »

Hi, just joined and glad I have found somewhere with sensible discussion!

I have been taking HRT for about 3 - 4 months. Evorel 75 (increasing to 100 on new prescription) and Utrogestan 100.  Everything has been fine, but now experiencing a bleed. Not heavy, but I didnt expect it. I am also on the pill and have been taking that each day. First bleed out of the ordinary - body adjusting to the HRT??

I saw the nurse on Monday and she didnt seem too concerned. I read on the leaflet for Utrogestan that women experience a bleed once a month like a period. Does ayone else here get the same?  I thought it had finished, but has come on again, although light. Whole thing started properly 5 days ago. I had a blood test a few weeks ago and the nurse then upped by Evorel to 100 as  I was still on the low side for estrogen.  I pick up my new meds tomorrow. I gather its all a bit of a juggling act to get the right doses of both. I assume this is why I bleed?

Any info or reassurance would be great to stop me threating. :)

Are you taking the Utro daily? Or for 25 days

Bleeding is common in the first 6 months of starting or changing the regime of hrt

I hear of a lot of people who take utro daily with 100 of oestrogen up the Utro to 200mg

Stick with it for 6 months

If still bleeding after 6 months go to your gp

The recommended dose of progesterone with a 100mcg estradiol patch is 200mg every night.

Insufficient progesterone is the most frequent and easily fixed cause of bleeding on MHT, assuming you are postmenopausal.

You might want to discuss your progesterone dose with your GP, and show them the relevant guidance from the BMS website.
