Depends on when you drink it CLKD.  :)

Tannins and oxalates in tea can inhibit iron absorption as it binds to the iron and stops you absorbing it, moreso if it's non-haem iron. It also stops you from absorbing iron supplements as effectively too.

Just leave a gap between eating or taking supplements and drinking tea. (And don't forget to take your iron supplements well away from any other supplements you take. That's a whole other thread though  :) )

I don't use supplements, not even VitD.

Where did U read all that SundayGirl, surely if it's that much of a possibility there should be warnings on all tea products?

;D It's not usually an issue since most people absorb sufficient iron anyway (with certain exceptions including diet or medical condition) and don't even know if they're lacking in iron until a GP tells them after routine bloods.

I probably found this on one of my many research sessions whilst discovering as much as I can about vitamins, minerals, supplements etc.

Why have you stopped taking Vitamin D? The majority of people in the UK are deficient, especially during the winter months.

Because I don't require VitD at the moment.  I am aware of how low levels affect me in that I can hardly move ......... we have good balanced diet and walk as often as I can be bothered to do in sunshine - though I do have a woolly hat on  ;D
