HRT & bladder issues
« on: November 29, 2024, 09:01:20 PM »

Hi. I started HRT just over a week ago and I seem to have lost control of my bladder. I'm on 2 pumps of Oestrogel a day and 100mg of Ultrogestan continuously. I started feeling bloated pretty much straight away and now the thought of needing a wee and I can't make it to the toilet. I wet myself 5 times today  :cuss: :cuss: where as before I could go all day at work without a wee sometimes so somethings definitely wrong. Is it the HRT??

It may be - hopefully some1 will be along with advice!  How embarrassing 4 U.  MayB buy some 'granny pants' to give you a sense of security.

There. is also a condition: vaginal atrophy: do read the 'bladder issues' and vaginal atrophy threads on the Forum.  Make notes ;-)

Thank you for replying. Yes I'm looking for other bladder issue threads. I don't know what vaginal atrophy is so I'll have to look it up.

That seems an extreme reaction if you didn't have this problem before starting systemic HRT, best to check back with your GP about it.

In the meantime two threads that fully explain Vaginal Atrophy

Hi Ayesha, your post on VA is really interesting. My mum went through years of water infections and having pessary rings fitted. I eventually went to one of her appointments with her and they suggested HRT, a cream pessary I think, at the grand old of 72. It took some convincing but I was already clued up on it from having taken back in my early 40's and she's not looked back since. I'm going to speak to her tomorrow and see if she had similar bladder issues too. And I'll go back to my doctor on Monday. Thank you.
