Yes Intimate Foam Wash
« on: October 27, 2024, 11:21:07 AM »

I can just about get away with using Yes unfragranced foam wash at times without it causing irritation.  It now seems to be in short supply due to global lack of aloe vera.

Has anyone using this unfragranced version found that the Rose version of this foam wash any good or does it by comparison cause irritation ?

Or can anyone recommend another unfragranced foam wash please ?

Hi I’ve just bought the Rose fragrances one as, like you, l can’t get the unscented one. I haven’t used it yet though.

Thanks for reply Dotty I hope it works for you.
I’ve just messaged Yes just to see if they can send me a sample of the rose version in some form. Don’t hold out much hope given it is a foam in a canister but you never know.
Trial & error with all these various products can get so expensive & wasteful.

I've used both in the past (postmenopause) without probs.  The rose one smells lovely & I stuck with that at the time as it caused me no issues, but my dryness is now worse post-hysterectomy & last time I tried the Yes washes they were too drying for me.  I now use an unscented Aveeno wash for v dry skin I saw recommended on a good MS-led website.  I've had GSM for many years but it's pretty well controlled on vaginal estrogens so can get away with some products less fortunate women can't tolerate.   I need something that foams to feel clean!

Hope you both get on well with it.

Thanks Wrensong
From your description the rose one does sound pretty scented.

I will look into the Aveeno dry skin wash. I had a quick look at ingredients last night and it has some similar oat content to Aproderm that I have been using inbetween. I don’t really like it though. Does the Aveeno foam up ?

I like a bit of foam too to feel clean just have to be careful likewise with my VA/GSM state.

I wouldn't say the rose Yes intimate wash is highly scented, but pleasantly enough to know it's rose & for that reason I preferred it to the unscented at the time I could use either without probs.

Expect you already know Aveeno do a range of washes.  The one I use for the intimate area is described on the bottle as "Skin relief body wash.  Soothes very dry skin".  Yes, it does foam but not excessively, produces an unscented, I'd say silky feeling, light cream wash.  The 500ml bottle I buy is oat coloured with a navy lid.  It can be hard to find where I live, but I usually manage to get it in Waitrose.

Hope whatever you opt for does the trick for you.  Horrible to feel uncomfortable in that area.

Thanks for such a comprehensive reply Wrensong.  I bought the Aveeno wash you described in our local Boots today.  On offer at the moment with my advantage card so will give it a try.

Yes did reply to say that they are unable to send me a sample of their Rose version.

If Aveeno doesn’t work out, I’ve had luck with hydromol shower emollient. You have to put it in a pump as it doesn’t come in one, but works well for me as a soap alternative.

Good luck

Thanks Dramy3

Hydromol & Cetraben are mentioned by several members.
I have also been using Aproderm too.

I’ve tried the Aveeno this morning and as Wrensong says it does foam a bit. Somehow just that foaming makes me feel better about myself.

I'm glad Minusminnie & just hope it proves to be right for you - but you have Dramy's suggestion if not.  I know what you mean about products that foam a bit - having thought about what you said I think it's twofold for me: 1) I like the feeling of cleanliness I get from a lather, 2) it feels more like a standard shower cream, so is less of a reminder that VV health becomes an ongoing project  :o many of us have to take on at menopause that we'd never anticipated in our carefree youth(!) would become a thing.  I think there can be something akin to grief for our former selves that can come with "The Change" & anything that helps us adapt to the new normal & get on with life without looking back is a comfort psychologically.

Could just be talking b*ll*cks again though  ;D  It's just a shower cream fgs!!

It's not b*ll*cks!

The best part of my day used to be coming home from work, grabbing a glass of wine and having a nice hot bath with bubbles and lovely smelly things. And then perimenopause hit and I couldn't drink anymore because alcohol made me feel horrid and VA symptoms meant I had to shower and avoid baths. And say goodbye to anything that smelled nice. It was one of the biggest emotional hits for me, even though it was such a small thing at the end of the day.

Luckily the VA is under control now so baths are back on the table, and hydromol creates lots of bubbles when used as a bubble bath. Granted, I'm drinking ginger ale, but you can't have everything!

Alcohol  ????

Oh . . . yes - I remember that.
Just.
It's that stuff in surgical spirit OH uses to get the patch glue off my butt.

Baths?  Bubble baths?  How utterly decadent.  Haven't had one of those for . . . ooh - 2 decades.
Now you know why I liked the rose scented Yes  ;D

In the long lamented absence of Pinot Noir, my reckless poison's tonic water with a splash of OJ.  When my bladder's not throwing a hissy fit.

I so hear you Dramy

Agree it’s not b*ll*cks at all.

;D Don’t ever let it all rob you of your sense of humour.

Day 2 for me with the Aveeno & ok so far !  thanks Wrensong.  :)
