Restarting Topical oestrogen
« on: October 06, 2024, 07:29:24 AM »

I’m post prolapse surgery.. 10 weeks
I used to use topical oestrogen for both VA and Pelvic floor health
Obviously I had to stop after surgery and can’t get any advice when I can start again
Have no hospital follow up and GP is just impossible to contact
I have pessaries and cream so have options but very worried about doing the wrong thing
Has anyone here been in this situation When did you restart

Just a couple of my thoughts Do you feel that you need to restart as you mentioned that much pain had gone since your prolapse surgery ?

Is it easy to distinguish between what is healing & what might be VA?

Hi
Well I was told that because of the prolapse I need to keep my pelvic floor as strong as possible as it was obviously not as good as it could be and that additional oestrogen would help this
So although the VA is quiet at the moment other than the odd itch and fidget which is possibly healing anyway I can see the sense of using something
To be honest I’d rather not have the faff of sticking it up there It’s a messy business At the moment I’ve managed get a GP to give me oestrogen gel but don’t know if it’s really suitable… and neither did he !! Don’t want to go through this process again because I don’t do something now to prevent it
Such a nightmare Just can’t get any advice

Do you think a women's pelvic physio may be able to give you some advise postoperatively especially for safe excercises too ?
