bleeding issues
« on: September 19, 2024, 05:26:33 PM »

Hello
I have been on continuous HRT since January this year, increasing the dose of the Oestrogel to 3 pumps (75mg) at the end of March, 100mg Utrogestan. Beginning of June I had a bleed and when I spoke with the doctor's surgery, they advised that any change to dose, bleeding can be expected for 3-6 months, from date the dose changed. Bleeding has continued on and off, in the last 4 weeks, have had 2 lots of bleeding lasting 2-3 days. I did reduce the Oestrogel back to 2 pumps as thought maybe I was having too much oestrogen for the progesterone dose? My last period was January 2022. I am waiting for an appt with my GP but getting more and more anxious about what is going on? I have no other symptoms like cramps.

Hello
Just wanted to share that I also had some bleeding issues which came out of the blue having been on HRT patches for over 6 months. As far as I know it is a balance with estrogen and progesterone, where too much estrogen can lead to bleeds. I found this quite distressing as I'd not had a 'period' for years having been on desogestral contraceptive pill which stopped all my periods. A recent scan showed I was post menopausal.
When I spoke to my gp about the bleed it was suggested that it could have been because the brand of my progesterone desogestral had changed. I also now only use a half patch rather than a full one. So far things appear to have settled in that department.
Hope this settle down for you too. The worry and constant changes to how we're feeling are not easy to manage...along with everything else menopause throws our way!
