Hi everyone,
I've just had a hysteroscopy and I thought I would post my experience as it's a procedure that many, including me, dread.
Had a 2nd PMB at the end of July. Not taking and never have had HRT.
I had penthrox and a local anaesthetic into the cervix and I felt what I would describe as moderate pain firstly when they injected the anaesthetic into the cervix, for a second or two. I felt nothing when they went into my uterus and then cramping when the water was introduced; again this was moderate and just for a couple of seconds. I felt the biopsy, very bearable and again momentary. All in all, I had a very positive experience and the whole thing lasted less than 5 minutes. The staff, all nurses, at Pinderfields Hospital were absolutely fabulous, reassuring and responsive at all times. The Penthrox really relaxed me, in the same way a few glasses of wine would, and I would highly recommend anyone asking for this. I'm so glad I went to out-patients now and not for a GA.
They found 2 large polyps and have taken a biopsy. When the results of the biopsy are in I will return for the polyps removing and this will be done by the consultant.
I am bleeding after this procedure, I believe that's quite normal and have a few low grade cramps.
I hope someone finds this helpful; I've spent the last couple of weeks working myself up into a frenzy!
