I'm on Evorel Sequi but as some of you know, for two weeks of that regime you are on Conti patches.

I have to change back to estradiol tonight but something is telling me not to.  To remain on Conti.  I'm 54, still seem to have a cycle, but of late I feel like the stress relief I used to get once the conti patches started, it's not happening as much.  I always got the feeling the estradiol was good for me, but the combined patch was even better, as soon as I switched to it I was chilled out, energetic etc. 

Not getting that effect so much in the last few months but I feel it's because my body hasn't had time to 'recover' from estradiol only before it's back on it.  So perhaps it no longer wants the cycle or the estradiol only.

I also read that the norehisterone has some testosterone like effects as well as progesterone, so maybe that's why it has a beneficial effect.  It's always seemed like a double edged sword.  Made me chilled out and energetic, but by the time I'm due to change back to estradiol, there are the beginnings of prolapse symptoms, mild but an obvious difference. 

Oh heck I don't know.  I will change back to estradiol and get an appointment

There’s no reason why you shouldn’t move to Evorel Conti. It is advised to move to Conti at your age. Give it a try and see if it works.

I was on sequi for short while and couldn’t cope coming off the conti but so am on conti patches now

There's no medical reason why anyone has to have withdrawal bleeds, either on the pill or on hormone therapy.

It was simply developed that way in the beginning based on paternalistic beliefs about women wanting to have periods, thinking they were pregnant if they didn't and/or being unable to cope with any irregular bleeding that might occur if taking it continuously.

The world of reproductive endocrinology has moved so far on, yet withdrawal bleeding is still being presented as a mandate rather than an option.

Just ask your prescriber for conti. Evidence shows superior endometrial protection with continuous progestogen as well.

Thanks for the responses, I've read each properly.

I'm now about to go back on conti and now thinking I don't do so well on it 

I know that's confusing but it's like the estradiol builds up in my system, I feel better, then I go into a kind of 'nesting' mode and everything is easy, energy returns, the house gets blitzed, etc, and this continues for the first 3 patches on conti but by the final, fourth patch, I'm getting weird sensations in my neck, pounding head when standing, palpitations at times, I've actually worried about my heart at these times and often I can't wait for my period to start as I know it will all go away again.

I think there are benefits to both the estradiol and the conti/ combined patch, but there are downsides to each too.  So perhaps it's time my cycle was stopped.

I believe I did ovulate again this time, this is after months of not.  I think I can tell the difference.

Anyway, I'll be ok for this week and half of next, then it's hold my breath and wait and hope I get through it again.

Another thing on conti is by the fourth patch I'm starting to have mild prolapse symptoms and can also feel everything in my lower abdomen kind of heavy and lower. 

This goes away once the estradiol is started again.  There's estradiol in the conti patch, but I wonder if the progesterone negates some of it's effects on the body.
