Too many organisations in the NHS?
« on: June 04, 2024, 12:48:01 PM »

We have received notification that we can take part in a health trail, in partnership with the NHS.  Run by 'our future health' ...... however, it seems that there are several other organisations involved with this 'charity'  :-\ and I wonder whether there are in fact, far too many Chiefs and not enough Indians in the whole NHS system.

Surely if a charity is running a research programme, they should oversee everything?  Not do the initial contact, then pass on different parts of the results to others to analyse?

How secure is data security 4 example?  What happens to that date when research organisations go out of business ..... we have decided not to participate.  We have get certain tests done within 14 days of filling in the on-line questionnaire - that is almost impossible to get an appt. across much of the UK in that time scale!

I get the impression the too many bosses / bureaucrats has been the major problem for the NHS for many years. I reckon they could reduce non-medical staff by 80% and things would run a lot smoother.

Yep.  As long as that money is used for more staff training.

By the several other organisations do you mean scientists and researchers, because that's who's usually involved in clinical research. They're not chiefs. They're Indians.

I would hope that people organising a clinical trial (administrators) aren't the same people who are analysing the data (scientists). Pretty sure the average admin can't write Python scripts or use MATLAB / SPSS.

The data is very secure. The benchmark for medical ethics is extremely high. Our Good Clinical Practice research methodology is the envy of the world.

I used to work in medical research.

DH is a research chemist in the days when we used upright typewriters to prepare the thesis [7 ]  ;D

I have no problem with companies employing appropriate staff but it seems that this particular research is involving lots of different charities rather than keeping it in-house.

I’ve left my body to medical science in my Will if they want it at the time. At least I won’t have to worry about any of my personal information being leaked out  :D

This is becoming more popular. Which medical school did you choose or is there another route?

Best to check as some medical schools are no longer taking cadavers.  It had crossed my mind too, although being a parts donor apparently I can't donate my whole body to Research  :-\
