Hi, my pharmacist has called me in saying that I am going through Testogel too quickly. I am supposed to use a pea size so I get two or maximum three for the small 40.5mg sachet. But the nhs guidelines say this sachet is to last eight days! Help! How many days does it take you to get through a sachet? Am I taking too much!

Yes, the dosage for females is one eighth of a sachet per day.

Yes, I get 8 doses. You'll soon learn to judge it, doesn't have to be all that accurate.

I write the date with a permanent marker on the sachet when I open it. Then i can make sure it lasts 8 days. Mine was actually lasting much longer because I was afraid to have too much. Then my T was still low. Fixed that now...

I get between 12 and 28 blobs from my sachet! I use a tiny syringe and apply it directly rubbing in with the syringe. You definitely want to get a lot more than 2 otherwise you will soon get side effects.

jawa42 - I use even tinier amounts and I am still using testim 1% gel. No need for syringe or anything (but well done Tulip for managing this with such a small sachet!). Just squeeze out tiny blob. When I eventually have to change to the stronger Testogel sachets I will be squeezing out a lentil sized blob!!! My tubes last weeks. I never measure how long. Those guidelines - tube must last 8 days - I would suggest is a maximum. Try the lowest dose you possibly can for about 4 months and then if necessary increase slightly. We don't want to OD on this stuff! T measurements are inaccurate at the low levels women experience as the tests are designed to measure T levels in men, which arer  10 x higher.

How long have you been taking a dose as high as this?

Also even despite the inaccuracies of blood tests for T, now you have been taking it for some time at this high dose, your doc should ask for these just to check that you are not above the level for women....
