That's a bit harsh after 1 dose?   I would stop to let the gut settle.

There are other mediations so don't lose heart.  Keep hydrated today and ring the Nurse Practitioner for advice.

My daughter was fine with it. I know it is a side effect but could possibly be a bit of a bug that you have picked up. It has been life changing for my daughter, she was more agitated for first few days but that quickly settled.

I had diarrhoea for a few weeks after starting sertraline, Daisie. I was at the point of stopping it when, thankfully, it stopped! I was reluctant to give up because it pretty much eradicated my anxiety problems. So glad I persevered. Hope it stops soon  :foryou:

Hi Daisie, I plan to ask for sertraline on Monday too; purely for anxiety symptoms. I hope things calm for you very soon x

Songbird, was your anxiety hormonal, or a mixture of life/ hormones? Do you feel calmer now? 😊

Hi Nas 👋
I had suffered with anxiety, pretty much, all of my life. I have dipped in and out (over the years) with anti anxiety meds, especially when life issues took a toll. But it got to a different level when menopause hit. Dreadful panic attacks and high levels of anxiety. What I can tell you is that, once I combined 50mg of sertraline a day with systemic and vaginal HRT, my anxiety problem disappeared. I'm reluctant to try and give up HRT or sertraline as the regime is working for me. Nowadays I believe I experience completely normal responses to anxious situations (and I am grateful for it) because it was, indeed, hell! X

I can’t have any HRT, have no ovaries and am on hormone blocker meds. It is pure unadulterated hell! I can’t wait for my GP appointment on Monday because my life as it is right now, is tough.

I’m glad you are feeling more balanced, that is good news.

Understood Nas. HRT aside, for me, sertraline has been the most effective med with regards to controlling anxiety. I've tried citalopram and fluoxetine and there was one clear winner. Xx

Thanks Songbird
Feeling slightly more optimistic now. I think I could cope with anything, if the anxiety was under control.

50mg is what I will request.

Please let it work 🤞🤞 x

Hello, I am on week 3 of sertraline. I started on a low dose 25mg for 1 week and upped to 50mg now. I had terrible nausea, internal tremors/jittery and wind/loose bowel movements. I'm still struggling with sleep 😴.  I have been taking the tablet in the evening so I'm wondering if I might be better taking in the morning.
This morning I felt like the side effects were easing, I know that they would be rough for the first few weeks from what I have read.
BTW I am on HRT also which previously helped my anxiety, but my oestrogel wasn't working for me so I had a review and have now changed my estrogen prescription.
Sadly all ADs have side effects until the levels become balanced in our body. I'm glad I am sticking it put as I'm hoping I'm coming out of the other side. I have had to take some time off work.
