Oestrogel....confusing bottle!
« on: October 17, 2023, 05:05:43 PM »

Hi there i have been on 75 patch everol but due to certain symptoms gp thinks oestrogen too high...getting bloods but she feels i would be better on oestrogel. From what i gather generally...one pump 25mg...two pumps 50mg.....which is what i have been reduced to....50. The front of the bottle says 750mcg bottle....and from looking around that is the only oestrogel bottle that everyone is prescribed. I am so confused though....is the 750mcg....75mg? Please can someone clarify in very basic terms.

Thankyou so much xxxx

Hi 2 pumps is the rough equivalent of a 50 patch. 3 pumps is the rough equivalent of a 75 patch,

It's confusing, isn't it?

They claim to be bioidentical so you'd think they'd be similar doses, but from reading the bottle/packs the Evorel says it contains 3.2mg Estradiol of which it releases 50mcg Estradiol into the bloodstream, every day for four days, so that is a total delivery of 200mcg in four days, aka 0.2mg, the other 3mg degrades or goes in the bin.

That is supposed to be the same as two pumps of Oestrogel. Oestrogel says it contains 750mcg Estradiol per pump, so by smothering my arms in two pumps of that, I'm applying 2x750mcg=1.5mg Estradiol, that is thirty times the intended dose of 50mcg Estradiol.
I don't know what happens to the 1.45mg that doesn't end up in the bloodstream, but that is what they are saying, they estimate only one thirtieth of the applied gel, 50mcg, will end up in my bloodstream.

Now what happens if my skin is a little thicker or thinner than the skin they tested it on?

btw 1,000,000mcg=1,000mg=1g

My experience was that patches were useless. I went from a 50 patch to one pump of gel and I thought it was many times stronger, that one pump, it was supposed to be weaker. Now I'm on three pumps!
