You say you can't take a PPI but as you only get reflux now and again I would suggest Gaviscon Double Action and see how it goes with that.
If you get it on a regular basis, see what the GP can do for you. I'm afraid reflux is the curse of old age and so many of us suffer with it.

Was that for me? I have kidney problems and was advised not to?

That's unfortunate, Booroo. In that case I would see the GP if your reflux becomes consistent.

Have you reviewed your diet? I don't eat anything that increases stomach acid, I've cut out alcohol, I don't eat less than 3 hours before going to bed. It does help.

Yes that's the downside, I sometimes feel hungry, but better than my heartburn in bed

Are you a mouth breather at night? I'm sure if acid reflux was that bad you'd wake up. I used to have to jump up and throw gaviscon down and often walked round for ages as it caused gas high up, like having heart attack

I get the dry mouth and burning in the mornings when I wake up, I apparently have become a snorer along with everything else. All my orifices are so dry now, if anyone has a remedy to fix this, I am all dry ears!  ::)

I use Oral 7 Mouthwash before bed when I am going through a dry phase, it is alcohol free and specifically designed for dry mouth. It isn't a tooth / gum one of you know what I mean. They also do a mouth gel and chewing gum. If I can take it before the burning starts, then it helps.

Also do your ears get itchy when they are dry? There are drops from the pharmacy you can use short term for that, they do work and might get you over a difficult patch.

Fortunately no I don't get itching in my ears, they are just dry with no symptoms.
Do you buy Oral 7 direct from the company, I am certainly interested it trying it.
