I dont have any red flag symptoms (I think) but this is finding this very uncomfortable. At night it's like my mouth has no saliva.

Could you have dry mouth as a symptom of menopause? Or as a side effect of medication? You cam buy mouth washes for that, I use one called Oral 7. That might help you overnight.

I’m going to jump on this aswell. Early part of peri I went for endescopy as kept having trouble with swallowing and felt like food stick etc all ok thankfully and had ranitidine and peptac like gaviscon but ranitidine stopped as problems worldwide and was never given anything else just the peptac. I do change what I eat and I k ow if I have something not right as ibs will flare it up too. But I’ve done the raised bed thing too.  It seems to come back tho certainly when dealing with ,out of stress as I’ve had these last few weeks and tho it’s better than it was I don’t know if I’m just dry in mouth etc morning and throat as I am a mouth sleeper hence then bit croaky but not hoarse then I panic if it’s proper reflux as I have a kidney condition and unable to take the ppi meds that lots take ,any ideas peeps please?

Yes it could, I'm still learning about all the menopause symptoms even though I've been in perimenopause for 8 years!
I'll try the mouthwash, thank you.

Unfortunately dry mouth, burning mouth (which can also include back of throat) and reflux can all be linked or not linked. I have been chasing my tail working out what I've got and what I haven't got. Amd then it suddenly disappears for weeks on end so I give up for awhile. Unfortunately it is process od elimination, there isn't a positive test to diagnose burning mouth, its excluding other things. Same as dry mouth. And I think one can impact the other, eg I have had occasions when it has started out burning and then been really dry and vice versa. Not sure where I'm going with this except to say it is common and I think in some way all to do with fluctuating hormones unless you have specific deficiencies which show up on blood tests, eg b12, iron.

Oh and very dry mouth if accompanied with dry eyes can be sjogrens which GP can test for. But aside from that it all feels a bit of a menopause lottery to me!

Life becomes this one great big question mark with so many symptoms feeling as if they are all coming from the one condition, but no life is not that simple.
Hayfever brought on the same symptoms as reflux, I questioned if it was the case, the burning mouth, dry mouth, tickly throat, runny nose, coughing.
Pollen no longer a problem but now I've got return of reflux because of a flare up of muscle inflammation, is it the statins they put me on, or is it the high humidity we are experiencing which I know can effect muscles.

I've had to up my dose of PPI's because reflux really bad, nurse telling me you don't want to be on it too long, yes dear tell me something I don't already know.
Its so frustrating when you think you have got over one thing then another symptom is waiting in the wings to grab a hold, life in this old age business is total crap sometimes.

Absolutely agree! I have sore muscles and joints at mo and feel like I’ve got the lurgy tested negative earlier stress and worry, really is a bugger obviously another thing we can’t tolerate in our bit of life, when does it ever get better? And not to forget the gums feel throbbing too like I get that when I’m run down

Yes, when things settle down I will reduce the dose. You get to become an expert at these things as time goes on  ::)

Oh did I leave out the gum problem, spent a fortune at the dentist because of severe pain only to be told its a sinus problem. At least with the growing number of symptoms we are experiencing we will know not to worry next time, there is always a next time  >:(

You say you can't take a PPI but as you only get reflux now and again I would suggest Gaviscon Double Action and see how it goes with that.
If you get it on a regular basis, see what the GP can do for you. I'm afraid reflux is the curse of old age and so many of us suffer with it.

My gastrologist told me that out of 10 people with my symptoms of dyspepsia that they examine, 1 will have disease. Don't assume anything is just an aging problem. Mine might be because it's been going on for years but it has also caused damage.

I do have low iron but I've always been like that so I'm not sure I can blame it on that.
Its so sore today, yes dry and burning feeling that you all mention. I really don't like it.
