Looking for positive menopause storied
« on: April 08, 2023, 09:42:46 AM »

Hi all
I'm 50 and in peri. Still have reasonably regular periods Been on evorel sequi for 4 years. I am one of those unfortunates who have had pretty dire psychological symptoms of menopause (suicidal thoughts, irrational thinking and paranoia etc). Never had these symptoms prior. I'm wondering do they ever fully go away after the menopause. Looking for hope.

Hormones  >:(.  Dr Kathleen Dalton did a lot of research and discussion in the 1970s/80s about pre-menstrual syndrome, how the changes of monthly hormones may cause mood swings etc..

When do you notice your feelings dip?  Any particular time of the month?  How much has the evorel helped, have you altered the dose over the years?

It may be that you require less or more or even a different regime.

Hi CLKD
Thanks for the response
I keep a diary so I know there isn't a pattern. I occasionally top up estrogen (off prescription) with some spare patches which usually seems to help.

But just wondering if it will always be like this now. After feeling as low as having suicidal thoughts, do you ever feel normal again?

Hi Fusseh

I think it’s possible to feel normal again once you’ve on the right regime. For example I feel good on oestrogen, but struggle when I’m on progesterone. Within a few days of stopping prog, I’m back to normal again. Have you noticed a pattern depending what you are taking at the time?x

Hi Perinow

No patterns for me, I keep a daily diary and it just charts a mad rollercoaster.

I've kind of written off the peri phase. I was hoping that I might feel more stable after menopause and wondered if anyone could offer hope.

Sorry to hear you don't cope well with the prog phase. Sending hugs. We don't deserve this

Do you think I should change to continuous?

Hi Fusseh
It’s a personal choice. You could try it and if you don’t like it you can always switch back to sequi x
