Feel like I'm running on empty.
« on: March 28, 2023, 09:55:16 AM »

Really just looking for advice from anyone that may have been in my situation. Bit long I'm afraid but thought I'd ask.

I had a Laparoscopic total hysterectomy and Bilateral salping oophrectomy, uterus,  cervix, tubes and ovaries removed, in January, (59 at the time) and although I'm recovering well my energy levels are nil and I hate it.

The only forms of HRT I was using pre op were vagifem/Estriol cream which after much trial and error sorted out the awful vaginal dryiness/itching.

I had to stop that in October last year due to unexplained bleeding after no bleed for 20 years while awaiting the hysterectomy op which for a few months was fine. I did ask the Gynecologist if I could restart post op but she wanted to wait for the histology report to come through, which is fair enough.
I'm now itching and so sore down there again I feel I've gone back years, it's constant and YES vaginal moisturiser does nothing on its own to ease it.

The histology report has now come through and showed as having Adenomyosis.
The surgeon did say once it's through she'd phone to discuss the results, as of yet I've heard nothing.

Over the last few weeks I'm feeling so tired and literally feel I can't be bothered to do anything, getting out of bed is a struggle, I'm so behind with so much and it really isn't me.
My skin is so itchy and hard as I try not to I have to give it a scratch.

I've made an appointment to see my GP next week, well, phone consultation and was wondering if I should maybe now ask about other forms of HRT but I'm worried as last year I had papillomas removed from my breast and am under the breast clinic for a yealy check as opposed to having 3 yearly mammograms.

I'm also a bit concerned as I've read about a 'cuff', which I gather it's where the skin has been stitched together to prevent the bladder from protruding but what I'm wondering is will the vagifem still work, can hardly stick to the womb lining when there no womb there.

Strange things I think of, my brain is mush.

Ring the Surgeon's secretary and ask her to put your Notes in front of the Surgeon to get advice.  It mayB that the Consultant has been on holiday/busy etc..  The Secretary may be able to inform you ........ once you get the VA treatment re-started, and quite honestly, I don't see why not after this time regardless ......... Quality of Life is important.  I think you will begin to have more energy, your brain is probably 'on the run' with all that's gone on!

As oestrogen levels drop the body may become dry: inside and out - including skin.  It was my first symptom!  Using a good moisturiser on the areas helps.

If you are tired it may be that your VitD levels are low.  Ring the breast clinic and ask advice, to see whether papillomas would be a cause for concern regarding HRT: or mayB your GP will have had a report from the Clinic - U could ring the surgery for them to check your note prior to next weeks phone appt..

Thank you...
I've got to have a blood pressure check, apparently there's a machine at the Dr's surgery where you now DIY and hand the result slip to the receptionist and they'll put it in your notes so I'll pop in before my consultation and ask if all reports have been sent over to the Dr.
