Hi Jaquiw - there are various different preparations for vaginal atrophy and containing different active ingredients. They are all listed here:
https://www.menopausematters.co.uk/local.phpYou will see that the main ones contain either estradiol or estriol. They both work on the vaginal receptors to do what's necessary! The dosages are not comparable. The dose of each product is designed to be the average to do the same job - though many women will require more than average, and some less.
Also even with a given oestrogen the quantities are expressed in different ways eg in micrograms or percentages. What is it you would like to compare? Sometimes a bit of maths is required to compare them! ...and Ovestin is more concentrated (at 0.1 %) than the generic Gynest estriol cream (at 0.01 %).
In the licensed dosages then systemic absoprtion in minimal though if you are using Ovestin in large quantities (larger and more frequently than the licensed amount) then logically the amount sborbed may be higher, though once the tissues are plumped up absorption declines to some extent.
In what way do you feel it is affecting your sleep negatively, when used daily?
