Why do I always speak too soon?!
Mum looked dreadful again today. I just can’t believe the difference from yesterday. She’s unable to pass urine and is having dreadful bowel incontinence. It’s so upsetting for her.
To cap it all, when I was there today I asked for 2 nurses to get mum from her chair into bed. One auxiliary attended, ordered me outside and pulled the curtains around mum. Next thing I hear is mum screaming. I ran back in, pulled the curtains aside and mum is collapsed on the floor. Her legs completely went from her. As you can imagine, I was raging! Auxiliary was doing precious little so I shouted for 2 competent staff!
I ain’t keeping quiet about this. I am pig sick of the incompetence I have witnessed in health and social care (and I know I sound like a broken record!)

Is this what the U.K. has come to? Absolutely shocking 🤬

Oh songbird, such a worry for you, this is awful. Have you spoken to a manager? Mind you, they can be as much good as an ashtray on a motorbike, things got bad when they got rid of matrons.
Oh and no,you DO NOT sound like a broken record ❣️

Certainly not a broken record.  I think that legally vulnerable patients should have 2 to lift competently.  Especially when nurses are prone to back strain.  When Dad was in care I wandered along to his room, 5 staff laughing and joking with the door wide open  :o.  When they saw me they pulled it shut, difficult when they are slow closing doors.  I wish to this day that I had burst in because I'm not sure how they were handling Dad.  ??? 5 ???

You're 100% right, Jaypo. Bring back matrons! Standards were higher in those days..
I'll definitely be speaking to someone tomorrow. Can't let that go  >:(.
I'm pretty sure 2 are required to lift a patient, CLKD. I'll be asking about that tomorrow..

Currently enjoying watching the swimming. It's something I never learnt to do 😲.

I was 8 when I learnt to swim, 11 when I finally got brain together enough to dive from the edge.

Take a list of concerns Songbird?

Out of bed.  Watching the ☀️ pouring through the windows.

Watered the plot.  Found a very small frog under some leaves.  Laundry sorted, dishwasher going round.  Watching Olympics on lap top and TV.

Hello dear ladies
Well, no great change with mum. Not wanting to eat today. Ever so weak. It took 3 nurses to move her from chair to bed this morning  :-\
I had a lengthy chat with a senior nurse, expressed my concern about the incident yesterday. She said it should never have happened and assured me it wouldn't happen again!
Physios and OT are there to try and improve mobility but I've asked for social work involvement as, if returning home is going to be impossible, 24hr care will have to be put in place
The bowel incontinence is continuing. Surgery/stoma impossible due to risk under general anaesthetic.
How on earth will she manage at home? I just can't see it  :'(

MayB if your Mum is discharged to a Nursing Home she would feel that 4 that moment she is 'in the best place'.  Care homes may not have 24/7 appropriate care and I think most of us feel 'better' with nurses ?

I think things will be a bit clearer in a few days.

Hope the contact lens fitting went well Jaypo. Don't think I could tolerate them 😬

So sorry to read about your poor mum Songbird. It's absolutely dreadful, and she is lucky that she has you to look out for her as so many people don't. In all honesty I think you have to be a broken record and keep complaining as nothing will get done otherwise.
