Advice please…
« on: April 28, 2022, 06:48:24 PM »

Hi everyone I’m hoping that your experience can make my life a bit easier! I was recently prescribed patches oestradiol Sequi? 50 mg which I have just finished my first month off and they have helped a great deal with the extreme tiredness I was suffering which was the main reason I wanted Hrt. They haven’t however stopped the hot flushes which don’t bother me all that much but my doctor seems to think that I should try something else. She has now prescribed a spray and progesterone tablets. She said that the patches could not be increased which I was disappointed about because I have no IllEffect and they were working quite well apart from the hot flushes. I just wondered if anyone had had a similar experience? Is it worth me trying the spray and tablets instead or could I even do as I read that some people have done cut a patch in half and wear one and a half? I was also a bit concerned that I haven’t had a period when stopping the progesterone part I am hoping this can be normal and it’s nothing to worry about? I guess my question is do I stick with the patches and keep having a mild flushes or do I try now the spray and tablets or do I try cutting patches in half? All a bit of a minefield to me any advice much appreciated thank you!

Hello Blossom and welcome to the forum. They say it can take 3 months to know if HRT works. I would continue with the patches if it were me as it is wonderful you are not getting any side effects. It is so hard to find the right HRT and hopefully in time this will help with the hot flushes. It is very positive they have stopped the extreme tiredness.

Hi Blossom. I’m surprised that your Dr has suggested a change after only one month. It can take several months for the the full benefits to be realised and if you aren’t having any side effects and have already seen some benefits I would definitely give your current regime a bit longer. Once you start chopping and changing different products/types of progesterones etc it can then be extremely difficult to pin down what is or isn’t working. If I were you, I would give your current regime a couple more months and then reassess. How great that you are already feeling some welcome benefits x

Oh dear - she said that if hot flushes hadn't subsided it meant I needed a higher dose which wasn't possible with the patches.  She therefore prescribed Lenzetto but this is out of stock with my pharmacy so now requested oestrogel with uterogestan tabs.  I suppose I could try it and then revert to patches if any ill effects?  Thanks for your comments
