Reporting LFT results
« on: March 28, 2022, 08:33:35 AM »

Can anyone advise?

My OH and I both tested positive for Covid last week (we've been SO careful and the first time in two years we meet up with anyone indoors, they test positive the next day...  ::) )

Neither of us have the app, but we reported the tests online and were told to do LFTs on day 5 and 6 and could then leave isolation if both were negative.  We've just done our day 5 LFT, positive for both of us, and when I reported the results online, it's treating us as if we are new infections.  We're being bombarded with texts about contacting people we've been in contact with in the past two days!
Have we done something wrong, or is this normal?

That's a bit old hat.  Ignore the messages.  They may be scams anyway.  The important issue is that 'they' know which area you live in to follow any clusters for statistical purposes.

I would begin from the start: 5 and 6 again.

How do you both feel?  4 neighbours have caught it in the last 3 weeks, each with different symptoms  ::).  They haven't reported even though it's a Legal requirement.

I reported my positive result too Dorothy but I'm not sure it's worth it all,the rules now are just be sensible, wear a mask etc there's no isolation rules either but the NHS advise that you do so. Did you report it to the government website?

My BinL has caught 'it' again.  Apparently.  Having tested positive 10 days ago, he's tested +ive again today  :-\.

How does that work?  mayB we should keep testing - 5th day then again 5 days after that rather than the 7th day? 'cos something somewhere ain't right!

I got covid and sent off for a PCR.  It gave me a code for the NHS app, which told me to self isolate for 10 days from the positive test date (15 days by then  :o), whilst on the front page it said that restrictions no longer applied  :o

It is very confusing.

It took 12 days for me to test negative from the first day I tested with a lft.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who is confused!

In Wales, the self isolating rules ended yesterday - it's now recommended but not a legal requirement, although we would still isolate anyway, since we don't want to risk giving it to anyone else.

The LFT pack says you must report ALL test results as otherwise it will skew the overall results.  But I'm thinking if they are taking each one of our positives as a 'new' case, that IS going to skew results because it will look like there have been 8 cases in the house this week instead of two!

I'm thinking we will keep doing them until we test negative but won't report them any more.

I ran out of lft after I was ill and cannot get any more online  :-\

I keep feeling tired and getting a sore throat even though it is 2 weeks since I last tested negative.

I'm very confused as to how reporting an LFT test is proof of your covid status. I have to report my test each week in order to visit my friend in her dementia home. I log in to the NHS site. Scan the QR code on the test and report negative result. There is no photo taken of the result so I could report anything! I receive the confirmation of negative test by text and show that to the carers at the home. It's all a waste of time and now money too once I have to buy them. I just don't understand how this proves anything!  :-\

Hope you soon feel better dahliagirl.

Thank you - I really do hope I don't end up with long covid.  I am eating loads of oranges for the vitamins and taking my vit D and sitting out in the sun  :sunny: (although not today - it has gone away)

No wonder you have a sore throat  :o  ::) - oranges are too fiddly for me to bother with, I buy it in juice form.

After today it doesn't matter about LFTs although homes are insisting on it, they will have to provide the test kits if they want me to comply.  Who is protecting who?  :-\

No one is sure about the incubation period either ........ a friend had symptoms, tested negative for 6 days then when he began feeling better, had 3 +ive tests in the next week!

I am having an orange a day and a glass of juice  ;D  There is a list of vitamins for recovery and they are all in oranges.  I figured it might help with the constipation if nothing else  ::)

Mine didn't test positive immediately, then after it was testing positive as soon as the liquid touched the line - in seconds with a big fat line.

I have a friend who tested -ve for 4 days when she had symptoms.

I hasten to add that I managed not to pass it onto anyone myself - even to the husband who has immunity problems going on ⭐

I've got Covid right now as well, and have been reporting my test results here: https://www.gov.uk/report-covid19-result  but haven't had any texts telling me to contact people, so I also wonder if some of these might somehow be scams? I've told people I might have been in contact with anyway, but the problem is by the time you get a positive test result, you've already spread it around.
Mine was very rough for four days, then started gradually feeling better. I'm currently on day 10 since testing positive and still showing a really faint positive line, it's so annoying!
I'm triple jabbed, dread to think how bad it would have been without vaccines.
